RED SOX POSTCAST: Chris Sale Gets the Better of Garrett Crochet & Boston Red Sox

The Red Sox returned to Fenway Park Friday night and opened up their longest homestand of the season with a 4-2 loss to the Atlanta Braves. The Red Sox have lost 4 in a row and are now 2 under .500 at 22-24. With the win, the Braves are a game over .500 for the 1st time this season. Chris Sale gave up 1 ER over 7 impressive innings and he picked up the win against his former team. ----- Crochet Day- Garrett Crochet once again made a mound start for the Red Sox after the club had lost the prior game. Crochet gave up back-to-back solo Home Runs to Matt Olson and Sean Murphy to open up the 2nd Inning. Crochet struck out the side in the 1st Inning. The Red Sox are now 6-4 in Crochet's 1st 10 starts. Crochet drops to 4-3 despite giving up 2 earned runs or less for the 8th time this season. ----- Don't Walk This Way- Liam Hendriks and Brennan Bernardino combined for 5 walks in the 9th Inning as the Braves came up with 2 insurance runs. Bernardino walked 2 with the bases loaded. Both runs were changed to Hendriks and that ended a streak of 8 straight scoreless outings for Hendriks. ----- Home Run Ball- Rob Refsnyder hit a solo Home Run off Chris Sale to account for the Red Sox only run of the game. The Red Sox are now 20-12 when hitting a Home Run this season. ----- #'s of the NIGHT: Jarren Duran led off the home 1st-Inning with a walk. He stole 2nd with Rafael Devers at the plate but was left stranded. Teh Red Sox have not scored in the 1st Inning in 11 of their last 12 games. 11 of Last 13 losses have been by 3 runs or less...10 of Last 15 Games decided by 1 Run or 2 Runs. ----- What's On Tap?: Lucas Giolito is scheduled to pitcher in Saturday's game vs. the Braves, who are expected to counter with Grant Holmes.
