RED SOX POSTCAST: Magic # Remains at 1 to Clinch Postseason Berth After Loss to Blue Jays

The Red Sox (87-72) were held without a base runner over the first 6 Innings and ended up losing the series finale, 6-1, to the Toronto Blue Jays in front of a crowd of 42,129 at Rogers Centre in Toronto Thursday night. The Sox went 4-2 on their final regular season road trip of the 2025 season.  It's the 9th time this season where the Red Sox had an opportunity for the series sweep but lost in the series finale.  -----Bello on the Bump: Brayan Bello made his final regular start in the series finale Thursday night. Bello was tagged with the loss, giving up 3 runs (2 earned runs) over 5.0+ Innings. Bello walked 3, struck out 3 and hit 2 batters. He exited after allowing the first 3 hitters to reach in the 6th Inning and they all scored when Justin Wilson entered and promptly gave up a Grand Slam to Daulton Varsho. Boston went 15-13 in Bello's 28 game starts this season. Bello went 1-3 with a no-decision in his 4 starts in September.  -----Sox at the Dish: The Red Sox did not have a base runner over the first 6 Innings against Louis Varland, Eric Lauer & Yariel Rodriguez. After the Jays scored 6 runs in the Bottom of the 6th, Jarren Duran led off the 7th with a Double and he scored on an RBI Single from Trevor Story, who picked up his 96th RBI.  Duran's Double broke his 0-for-12 at the plate. The Sox managed only 3 hits in the loss.    -----#'s of the Night:  --Daulton Varsho's Grand Slam vs. Justin Wilson in the 6th Inning was the 5th Grand Slam allowed by Red Sox pitchers this season. --It's the 4th time in 7 games where the Red Sox allowed 5 or more runs and the 10th time in September.--Jarren Duran went 1-for-3 with a Double and run scored in Thursday's finale.
