RED SOX POSTCAST: SOX 9th-Inning Comeback Bid Falls Short

The Red Sox (40-38) fell short in their comeback bid and lost, 3-2, to Giants Saturday afternoon at Oracle Park in San Francisco. Romy Gonzalez was retired on a groundout and the Sox left the potential tying run at 3rd when the game ended.  The Giants hit 2 Home Runs in the win including a 2-run Home Run from Rafael Devers in the 3rd Inning. It was Devers 1st with the Giants.  Time of Game: 2:09-----Sox at the Dish: The Sox managed only 6 hits in Saturday's Loss with 3 of the hits coming in the 9th Inning. Trevor Story had 3 hits, all singles. Jarren Duran and Abraham Toro both went 0-for-4 as the 1-2 hitters in the Sox lineup.  The Red Sox had the leadoff man reached twice over 9 innings.         -----Bello on the Bump: Brayan Bello made his 12th start of the season and just his 4th on the road this season Saturday afternoon. Belllo gave up Home Runs to Heliot Ramos and Rafael Devers, and both came with 2 outs. Bello gave up 3 runs (1 ER) over 6 Innings and he departed with the Sox trailing 3-0.  Bello has 8 outings this season allowing 2 earned runs or less.  -----Sox Pen: The Red Sox used 2 relievers on Saturday.  Jorge Alcala worked a 1-2-3 7th in his 2nd appearance with the club. Luis Guerrero retired the side in order in the 8th.  The Sox bullpen has worked 19.2 scoreless over the last 6 Games.   -----What's On Tap?: The Red Sox and Giants conclude their only series of the season with an afternoon affair on Sundy. Lucas Giolito is slated to go in the finale on Sunday, and he'll go up against LHP Robbie Ray. The longest road trip of the season wraps up with 3 in Anaheim against the Angels starting next Monday.
