RED SOX POSTCAST: Sox Swept in Anaheim & End Trip with 5 Straight Losses

The Red Sox (40-42) ended their longest road trip of the season with a 5-2 loss to the Los Angeles Angels Wednesday afternoon at Angel Stadium in Anaheim, CA. The Sox close the trip with 5 straight losses and were swept in a road series for the 3rd time this season.    -----Still WITHOUT A WIN: Richard Fitts rejoined the Red Sox rotation with the start in the finale on Wednesday. Fitts was staked to an early 2-0 lead but gave up the lead when he surrendered back-to-back Home Runs to Jo Adell and Travis d'Arnaud in the 4th Inning.  Fitts exited after 4 Innings he allowed 2 earned runs on 4 hits. He walked 1, struck out 6 and ended up with a no-decision. The Red Sox are now 0-6 in Fitts 6 outings this season and 0-10 in his 1st 10 career starts. Fitts has allowed 7 Home Runs this season & all 7 have come against Right-Handed Hitters.  -----Sox at the Dish: Trevor Story got the Red Sox on the board 1st with a 2-out, 2-run Single in the 1st Inning off winning pitcher Yusei Kikuchi. The Red Sox managed only 3 hits (all singles) in losing their 5th in a row. It's the 6th time this season and 3rd time in June where the Red Sox did not collect a single extra-base hit. Kikuchi retired 13 straight hitters to finish up his outing. The Sox went 1-for-9 with 6 strikeouts the 2nd time through the lineup vs. Kikuchi and 0-for-8 with 3 strikeouts the 3rd time through against Kikuchi.           -----#'s of the NIGHT: The Red Sox end up going 1-5 vs. the Angels in their 2 series this season.  The Angels hit 10 Home Runs in 6 Games vs. the Red Sox.  The Red Sox are now 26-13 when scoring 1st.     -----What's On Tap?: The Red Sox return home for 6 straight games with 3 against the Toronto Blue Jays and 3 against the Cincinnati Reds. After Thursday's off day, the Sox and Blue Jays open up a 3-game series at Fenway Friday night. The Blue Jays won 3 of 4 at Fenway back in April and took 2 of 3 in Toronto in late April/Early May. Jose Berrios and Brayan Bello are the scheduled starting pitchers for Friday's opener.
