The Cincinnati Reds were overwhelmed in a 9-1 loss to the St. Louis Cardinals in the second game of Wednesday’s doubleheader. Rookie Chase Petty had a rough MLB debut, surrendering 9 earned runs on 7 hits over just 2.1 innings pitched. The Reds' offense continued to struggle, going just 1-for-8 with runners in scoring position. Santiago Espinal and Elly De La Cruz accounted for five of the team’s seven hits, but the lineup couldn’t generate much else.
