The Braw and The Brave is a podcast about people and their passions. “It’s youth work dressed as rock and roll for disadvantaged young people in North Lanarkshire” Episode 204 is in conversation with Ryan Currie, Project Manager of Reeltime Music. Providing opportunities for participants to be creative and learn new skills, Reeltime Music cater their workshops and projects to suit the interests and needs of those they are working with to connect, inspire and support each individual young person. Ryan recounts the origins of the Reeltime Music and how it’s ethos, aims and objectives that drive the organisation still to this day were established back in the late 90s when Ryan himself was a young person with a passion for music. Collaborating with over 24,000 young people to date, Reeltime Music are preparing to move into new premises where they can continue the amazing work they do and ultimately engage even more with their community. With a dedicated team of workshop leaders and volunteers Ryan and the team, in collaboration with local partners, meet young people where they’re at without judgment and endeavour to provide a welcoming, safe space to explore their interests and talents and ultimately boost confidence and provide a pathway towards a more positive future.
