Marriage is hard because two sinners are joined for life, each carrying baggage that does not vanish at the altar. From 1 Peter 3:1–7, this message asks listeners to set aside cultural reflexes and hear the text afresh, recovering what biblical submission actually means. Submission is defined as Christlike humility — unselfishly seeking the other's good, yielding the right of way — the very posture Jesus modeled toward the Father. The teaching insists the head of the home was never meant to be the husband but Christ, and that “wives” in the same way is matched by “husbands” in the same way: marriage as a mutual submission contest grounded in reverence for Jesus. Practical ground is covered for believers married to unbelievers (winning them without words), for genuine beauty that flows from the inner self rather than mere adornment, and for husbands called to honor wives as co-heirs — so that nothing hinders their prayers.
