The world changed irrevocably on a crisp September morning twenty-five years ago. For those who lived through it, the memory remains vivid. Pastor Jack King recalls driving up Appalachee Parkway when word first broke over the radio that a plane had struck the World Trade Center. Initially dismissed by many as a tragic aviation accident, the realization quickly deepened when a second plane hit the remaining tower. In an instant, a nation was plunged into shock, sorrow, and uncertainty. In the days that followed, America experienced a rare moment of unity. The nation turned its eyes toward God, seeking comfort and divine wisdom amid incomprehensible loss. President George W. Bush shifted overnight from an administration focused on education to a wartime leader, launching a prolonged fight against terror that involved immense sacrifice. Countless young Americans stepped forward to serve, and emergency responders labored tirelessly in the rubble, a sacrifice whose toll continued to grow for years through lingering illnesses and lost lives. Yet, looking back across a quarter of a century, the broader question remains how the nation views those events today. Forces from without and within continue to challenge the peace, security, and foundational values that citizens hold dear.
