Reflecting Your Core Values with Jesse Thomas
from Talking Too Loud with Chris Savage
In 2010, Jesse and his wife, professional runner Lauren Fleshman, co-founded Picky Bars from their hometown of Bend, Oregon. Previously, Chris interviewed Lauren as a guest on Brandwagon. Last year, Picky Bars eclipsed $4 million in revenue. What’s unique about their business is they’re 90% direct to consumer, which is a pretty big number on the direct to consumer side versus the vast majority of competitors. They contract manufacture all of their products to about four different facilities in the Pacific Northwest, and they have 10 employees fulfilling all of their shipments in-house out of Bend.Links to learn more about Jesse Thomas:Jesse’s TwitterJesse’s LinkedInPicky Bars’ WebsiteWork, Play, Love PodcastFollow us:twitter.com/wistiaSubscribe:wistia.com/series/talking-too-loudLove what you heard? What this episode covers
On the latest episode of Talking Too Loud, Chris is joined by Jesse Thomas, the Co-founder of Picky Bars, a “real foods” snack company based in Bend, Oregon, that makes energy-fueling bars, performance oatmeal, and granola. For years, Picky Bars started off as a side project for Jesse and his wife, Lauren Fleshman, who are both professional athletes—and in October, Picky Bars celebrated its 10th anniversary. From the very beginning, the business was never about making a whole bunch of money. Tune in to learn more about Jesse’s entrepreneurial journey, his thoughts on the super-competitive food industry, and why he believes success stems from staying true to your core values and what’s important to you personally.
