from Finding God In Our Hearts with Msgr. Don Fischer · host Msgr. Don Fischer
Gospel Matthew 8:5-11 When Jesus entered Capernaum, a centurion approached him and appealed to him, saying, "Lord, my servant is lying at home paralyzed, suffering dreadfully." He said to him, "I will come and cure him." The centurion said in reply, "Lord, I am not worthy to have you enter under my roof; only say the word and my servant will be healed. For I too am a man subject to authority, with soldiers subject to me. And I say to one, 'Go,' and he goes; and to another, 'Come here,' and he comes; and to my slave, 'Do this,' and he does it." When Jesus heard this, he was amazed and said to those following him, "Amen, I say to you, in no one in Israel have I found such faith. I say to you, many will come from the east and the west, and will recline with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob at the banquet in the Kingdom of heaven.” ReflectionThe Father has sent Jesus into the world with great authority. Whatever He wills will happen. Whatever He decides to do will be done. And it's the thing that is at the heart of our faith because we are so often told that Jesus will do this or has done that. And we say, Well, I don't see it, or I'm not sure or I'm not certain. It's certainty in the authority of who Jesus is. And He is putting everything, everything that is opposed to our growth on notice. That it’s time of ruling our life is over. He has that kind of authority. Closing PrayerFather, let us trust in your word. Let us trust in every promise that you've made to us, knowing that it will take place when its time has come. And we ask this in Jesus’ name, Amen.
