If ever we needed reminders about what real sacrifices our service of Jesus requires we are reminded of them by today’s gospel but also by today’s feast of Vietnamese martyrs. The following of Jesus is a way of life that costs us not less than everything. But, as today’s Gospel reminds us, we cannot pay that price all on our own.
