A lot of things have been surprising. But I think the biggest thing is that these things are MY spiritual practice. Painting and writing are just as critical to my spiritual growth, as praying, meditating, studying the Bible, or reading other books, etc. We were made in the image of God. We are all creators. We may not see it yet. And poetry may not be the thing that releases your soul but building a car or building, might be. Playing with food, or fabric might be, or saving the planet or a life, might be also. Talent isn’t always in the arts, and creativity is need in every platform.
