REGIONAL: Elkton-Lake Benton to offer wrestling

ELKTON, S.D. — The Elkton School District #5-3 has officially announced it will offer both boys and girls wrestling for the 2026-27 academic calendar. Elkton-Lake Benton athletic director Steve Erickson reported the decision was approved by the school board at its meeting on Monday, Feb. 9. “There has been some talk in the past, and this year a few student-athletes began to inquire about it,” Erickson said. “So, it picked up a little momentum.” Elkton school district employees Kaleb Haas and Alex Marsh were instrumental in the process of gathering information to present to the board, Erickson explained.
