The country came to the city to showcase their events wares on a wintery evening in Melbourne where the local 'uniform', the dark grey down-filled puffer jacket has replaced the summer suit coat. Despite the chill of single digits more than 200 people turned up to see what Victoria’s regions have to offer those who want to stage meetings and events outside Melbourne’s busy CBD. There were suppliers – hotels and accommodation venues, conference centres, registered tourism organisations and those with interesting visitor experiences there to sell the benefits of taking the team away for a two- or three-day planning session. Whether that’s in the clear, clean air from Mildura in the far north-west to the Great Ocean Road down south, up in the high country of the north-east or down to far east Gippsland. It was a great turnout as Business Events Victoria’s General Manager Chris Porter tells Graeme Kemlo.
