Regulate Hemp, Don't Destroy It, Says CEO | TDR Cannabis in 5

The debate over hemp-derived THC products is heating up again in Washington, and one businessman who operates on both sides of the cannabis industry says Congress needs to regulate the market, not destroy it. In this episode of TDR Cannabis in 5, host Shadd Dales breaks down an op-ed from Dylan Raap, founder and CEO of Vermont-based Upstate Elevator Supply Company, published through Marijuana Moment.Raap runs both a hemp company producing CBD and hemp-derived THC beverages, and a separate state-licensed adult-use cannabis business in Vermont, giving him a genuinely rare view across both industries. He doesn't oppose the synthetic cannabinoid ban still hitting November 12, but he strongly disagrees with the broader 0.4 milligram total THC per container standard set to take effect December 11, arguing that measuring THC per container instead of per serving could wipe out products never designed to intoxicate anyone in the first place, like full-spectrum CBD bottles containing trace amounts spread across 30 servings.Raap isn't defending the entire hemp market either, he acknowledges the 2018 Farm Bill created real unintended consequences, and argues that any genuinely intoxicating product should face real regulation, age restrictions, potency limits, clear labeling, independent testing, and packaging that can't be confused with anything marketed to kids.
