If you transmit on a frequency that interferes with some other service, then depending on conditions, you might knock an essential service off the air somewhere else. A regulated hobby also sounds pretty restrictive if you're new to all this, but the more you learn and participate, the more you realise that because there are strict conditions, there is great freedom within those conditions.
