Reiki and the Pathways of Eldership

Welcome to the first offering from the elders, Iya Ifetayo and Iya Efunlayo. On this episode, they share their unique journeys towards the system of Reiki and the paths of eldership.  Ifetayo White, originally from Washington DC, lives on St. Helena Island SC. She is the founder and Director of The Lowcountry School of Reiki and CHOICES Birthing and Wellness Support. Ifetayo moved to the Lowcountry SC in 2000 when she was at that time the first Reiki teacher in the area. In 1995 Ifetayo became attuned Reiki I and II, and was initiated as a Usui Reiki Master Teacher in 1999. In February 2020 she was attuned Shinpiden Reiki III by Frans Steine of the International House of Reiki, and has a full Reiki practice where she consistently teaches, serves clients and facilitates Reiki retreats. It is of particular interest to her that she makes available Reiki attunements and treatments to support as many people of color, as well as the underserved communities, as possible in their quest for wellness.  J. Efunlayo Maxey is an experienced Reiki Master-Teacher, an initiated priest of an African Spiritual system, and worked as a school teacher and administrator for over thirty-years.  Efunlayo has combined these talents and skills to create classes, workshops and a spiritual life coaching practice.  All of this has informed her co-founding of the Melanated Reiki Healers Collective. This community of reiki practitioners, many of whom received Reiki certification from Efunlayo, shares its unique perspective to enhance both the teaching and the practice of Reiki for adults and children.    Tune in each month as Iya Ifetayo and Iya Efunlayo bring pearls of mystical and practical teachings that can only be cultivated through time, practice, and real life experiences.
