Reimagine: Transforming Grief Through Story and Song with Brad Wolfe

from Linda's Corner: Inspiration for a Better Life · host Linda Bjork/Brad Wolfe

What do we do when life breaks our hearts and we can’t fix the pain for the people we love?In this moving and deeply human episode of Linda’s Corner Podcast, I sit down with Brad Wolfe — singer-songwriter, community activist, and founder of Reimagine — to talk about grief, music, storytelling, and how we can transform pain into purpose, connection, and healing.Brad shares the story of his childhood friend Sara, who was diagnosed with a rare pediatric cancer. Faced with the helplessness that so many people feel during tragedy, Brad discovered something powerful: even when we can’t make everything better, we can still show up with love. He brought his guitar to the hospital and began singing for Sara, eventually writing a song for her called “Sara’s Got a Sunbeam.” Through music, Brad witnessed not only emotional comfort, but even relief from some of Sara’s physical symptoms. The experience transformed Brad as well. He realized that helping others creates healing for everyone involved. That journey eventually led to the creation of the Sunbeam Foundation, which has since raised more than $1 million for cancer research. Brad also formed his band, Brad Wolfe & The Moon, debuting alongside Grammy-winning artist Sara Bareilles. We also discuss the powerful story behind Brad’s song “Why Wait?” — inspired by his grandmother, Sally Wolfe, one of the last living survivors of The Holocaust and a survivor of Auschwitz concentration camp. Sally lived to be 102 years old and left behind a profound message: life is short, so we must use our time to care for one another, practice kindness, and choose tolerance and compassion. That message became a guiding force in Brad’s life and work. Through Reimagine, Brad has helped create one of the largest community movements in the United States focused on grief, healing, mortality, and meaning. Reimagine has hosted more than 4,500 events for over 250,000 people, creating safe spaces where people can share stories about loss, illness, discrimination, violence, heartbreak, and hope.We also talk about the healing power of creativity and storytelling, the role music plays in helping us process difficult emotions, and how even small steps can help us create meaning and purpose from painful experiences. Brad reminds us that while life is fragile and temporary, we still have the opportunity to live intentionally, love deeply, and do what matters most with the time we are given. You can learn more about Brad Wolfe and his work at:Brad Wolfe Official WebsiteReimagineYou can also watch Brad’s powerful music video for “Why Wait?” here:Why Wait Music VideoListen, Share, and SupportIf this episode resonated with you, please share it with someone who may need hope today.Be sure to subscribe, leave a rating and review, and help us spread more healing and inspiration to the world.Free Resource for HealingIf you're ready to release stress, calm your mind, and begin healing from within, visit:🌿 https://hopeforhealingfoundation.orgDiscover free resources to help you build confidence, improve relationships, and find peace as you become the champion of your own story.
