Good morning Americans it's Friday goodness gracious great balls of fire What an interesting evening it is it's Friday evening all Harvey lied. It's not good morning It's Friday. It's Friday evening. I am sitting in my home alone.
Thank god alone. Okay. There's cats here And the cats have been irritating they have actually stopped me from recording before because I wouldn't shut the hell up But now they're being nice and they're being docile and they're being pretty little kitties that I absolutely love and guess what we are doing Yeah, I was let's let's are you ever too old to reinvince yourself think about that Are you ever too old or too young or too middle-aged or too weird to reinvent yourself? I hope not because that's what I'm doing dammit I'm going back to the Daily Grateful I had stopped doing the Daily Grateful because I just got sick and damn tired of having to come up with reasons to be grateful And as I was laying around the house today, it is cold here in central Florida as I am recording this on January 16th Right now outside it is like 40 degrees which her Floridians is unreal now My daughter is now living in Michigan and she is just you know, it's snowing They're gonna get eight inches of snow tonight with like effect So how's that she bought a house up there?
She just you know my daughter got a wild hair up her ass and she decided she was doing to leave Florida And she was gonna move to Michigan. It was born in Michigan, but she didn't move to where she was born She moved to a touristy area. She bought a house sight unseen for like a hundred and ten thousand dollars or something nice You know three bedroom house. She's got three kids.
She you know, she's good She's good so the boys have one bedroom and Her daughter my granddaughter has one bedroom and she has one bedroom I said well, what if I want to move up there? She said hmm. I was gonna handle that as I don't know she said I have a shed no no no anyway Now we're back to the Daily Grateful, but I'm not gonna concentrate on being grateful I'm gonna concentrate on whatever I want concentrate on I'm gonna talk about whatever I want to talk about and I'm gonna Talk for as long as I want to talk about it or as short as I want to talk about it Now do you want a three-hour podcast like Joe Rogan? You want me to do that?
You want me to have guests? I'm thinking about having guests You know in this studio in the in the former home and garden radio show studio I have two road microphones. I have this one that I'm speaking into by the way This is the best damn microphone. I have ever used and I've got some good ones I've got an electro voice RV 20, which is the standard broadcast microphone.
It's about a four hundred and seventy dollar microphone It's on that shelf right there. I can see it. It's in a box. I have that I have a bunch of microphones, but I went to a thing called pod fest and they had a a Road or somebody that sells road had a oh sweet water company called Sweetwater had a booth there and they had road microphones And I tried this particular microphone out.
Well the first one I tried the earlier version of this microphone out and I said that damn thing is as good as my RE 20 And I said yeah, everybody's using these things and by the way if you you see people on television using the road pod mic And it's really I'm not using that one right now, but I'm that's right there. I'm looking at it It's right on my desk and it's a good microphone. It's my guest. It's my guest microphone If I ever have a guest in the studio and that's nice I got they came out with a newer version of that microphone That I'm talking to you on right now and I tried that thing out over there I put headphones on and I tried to think I said oh, this is good.
This is really good I said this is best damn microphone. I've ever used and I had to have it so bought it and then because I'm you know I let me say how I do this podcast. I'm talking into my road It's called the road pod mic USB, although I'm not using the USB functions of it But if you only wanted to use the USB function, you could just plug the damn thing into your computer Not me. I'm using what's called the XLR version where it plugs into a roadcaster duo Which is you know all of my sound effects that you hear is that I have like no or Or any of that I have I have on there I just wish these buttons and you hear them and and do I like it?
Oh, yes, I do I truly do It's really really really cool And I've got like a whole bunch of buttons there and I can pop the music up and I can pop the music down And I can and it's got a little thing over here that Before I had this I had all the I had a big board I had another board that that was connect or another piece of equipment that was connected under that which worked on my voice I just had all everything that it did with all this other piece of equipment that I had on a separate table next to me to Control all of that is now replaced by this thing which sits on my very small desk And with my laptop computer and my two microphones and I have lighting equipment And I have you know I have all kinds of stuff in here where I could do video if I wanted to do video and I don't know my might not I got really good camera. I've got what is this camera that I have here? This is a this is a nifty ass camera. It is a logic check, but it is a high definition 4k Wonderful camera that is just incredible that I can use I've got another one I've got a zoom camera over there on a tripod and I've got a little mixing thing over here It's it's not here.
It's on the other desk Where I can switch me between different cameras and do all of that good type of stuff if I want to but I don't know if I want to Do any of that stuff I'm just sitting here reinventing this podcast and talking to you about what's going on and reinventing my life because I am old Is it too old for me to reinvent my life? I hope not because I'm doing it. I am doing it I have been let's see I have not been in a romantic relationship since Five-year relationship with this wonderful girl named Debbie. She lived in Debbie land and if you have been around you used to hear me Talk about it.
Debbie land was actually West Palm Beach Which is on the other side of the state and I would go down there at least once a month and we would visit and have wonderful weekends So we'd go and trip she'd come up here once in a while. We go, you know, we just take a little mini But it was great. It was wonderful and I would take the train down there Oh gosh, it was so easy to take the train It's about almost a three hour drive three and a half hour drive to drive there And it's very taxing but you can get there on a train in two minutes and 50 seconds And you don't have to concentrate on anything and you drive right, you know straight through the middle of Florida to get to it And you see all these cattle ranches and you see all kinds of stuff and you can wander around and you can go eat If you want to eat they have, you know, a kitchen there and you can talk to people. It was I loved it Absolutely loved it.
And I remember we went to Pennsylvania In 2000 in August of 2015 her and I went to Pennsylvania to Actually her mother had passed away some months before and we took her ashes to Pennsylvania to have them buried next to her father So I went up there for that and we were there in August and it was cool there in August, which I enjoyed And it was very nice and we came back to her place in West Palm Beach and she takes me to the train And she gives me this giant kiss and hug as I'm leaving, you know, to get on the train And I'm on the train and the train's going down the track and it's just really cool And the next thing you know, I get I pick up my phone vibrates And I pick it up and and I look at my text and it's a text from her and she says Michael I no longer love you I've wanted this relationship to be over for a while, but I And want to move on with my life. Please don't contact me again Anything that is at my house you can throw it away or you can send it to me I don't care and I said okay All right Oh, and we had a joint bank account with a bank that was only in Palm Beach in one branch here And we only thing we use that bank account for is we would each contribute money to that bank account for our little getaways Our little trips that we would do together and she said and there wasn't a lot of money on it because we had just done a trip And you know, we call it Pennsylvania and you know, so I said okay, and she says Please close that account out and split the money in half I think there was like, you know, just not a lot of money I just said okay, and so I went and I you know, I came on and I'm sitting so what is up with this? You know, I mean, she's not gonna talk to me She's just texting me and I said okay. I gotta tell you gotta tell you I was a little bit heartbroken Now I heard later from a friend of hers that There was a guy that she used to date years ago Long before me that they had a very very, you know Interesting relationship and then he got arrested and went to prison and I heard from a friend of hers a mutual friend of hers That he had gotten out of prison when we were in Pennsylvania and when we came back I think she wanted I don't know this I do not know this life is interesting But I think she wanted to go back in that direction And then I heard that she started to go back in that direction and then he had to go into another direction Which is he had to go back to jail.
I don't know this story. I don't know nothing I don't even know if that's true That's just what I heard third hand and the woman who told that to me is no longer with us She has passed away as has Debbie. They have both passed away So had we stayed together and gotten married I would be a widow right now But 2015 August 15 2015 was our last last time I ever talked to her last time I ever talked to her I went and closed that bank account out and I took the money in cash and I put it in a priority mail envelope and put an envelope into inside an envelope and stuff some stuff in there and I sent it to her and That was that and then I got a text from her. No, I didn't know I didn't get it I got an email from her saying you could have kept half the money And I just you know I just didn't want it I just got and then that was that and then we never emailed him again after that never talked after that That was the end and then I found out here two years ago that she had gotten lung cancer and died I didn't even know she was sick.
I didn't even know she was sick So I found out that you know another friend of hers who lives around the corner from me Sent me a message on Facebook and said did you know that Debbie died of lung cancer today? And I said I did not know that and that was that and I sent a message to her sister and Pennsylvania and her sister in Pennsylvania told me the whole thing and I told her I was very sorry and that you know And that she was alone She was basically alone for the past you know four or five months of her life She couldn't work anymore and I went through my sister passing away of lung cancer And it's not an easy you know someone who's gone through this you have family members who have gone through this You know how difficult it is and even though we were not together at all and hadn't talked had I known I would have gone down there and stayed with her and taken care of her. I just would have done that That's what I would have done because as it turns out Her sister didn't come to see her because her sister didn't have the money to come and see her until the day before she died And that was that and she didn't get to talk to her and her her daughter lives in Arizona and came to see her The day that she died and she would been unconscious for several days and they woke her up So she could have a conversation with her daughter and then she was in a lot of pain then they put it back under and then she died So you know I'm that's why that's a real positive thing to be talking about but that's my history I've not been in a relationship since then and have not really wanted to be bought bought I've been lately I've been you know I hang out with my favorite ex-wife a lot. We're not romantically involved She lives less than a mile from me.
She's over here all the time I'm over at her place and we go and we do adventurous things together But it is not a romantic relationship and it never will be another you know It never will be a romantic relationship and so there's that but I'm you know Am I too old for a romantic relationship? I kind of think I want I mean nothing I don't want to get married But I might if the right girl came along or I might I'm open to a relationship Let's just do that. I'm hoping I'm open to having somebody that I can take out to dinner to dinner Yeah, dinner or I can take I'm not going to edit that because I don't edit unless I say a bad word And I haven't said a bad word and if I use a bad word, I'll edit it out But I don't generally at it, but I am you know I'm ready for a romantic relationship and adventure is fun romantic relationship. I have no one in mind Absolutely, no one in mind.
I have a close circle of people that I hang out with I hang out with people at the Tampa Bay Technology Center And I hang out with people at a at another club in Dunedin. I go to Wednesday meetings over there I write in a weekly newsletter for the Tampa Bay Technology Center And I you know I see people there, but I don't go out to bars. Well, okay There is one bar that my son and I go to but I don't drink there It's it's called Norton's in Dunedin and there is no Norton's, but they who are the people who only thought that was cool Name something like a sports bar name, and it's a sports bar and they've got really good sliders And I've been eating there for 20 years You know, no 25 years I've watched all of the staff there get old like me and by and I'm gonna tell you something I've aged better than most of them I'm gonna take that back. I've aged better than all of them as a matter of fact Yeah, I've been told that too by the way But I you know same staff for many many many years and I go there and we I go there not often Maybe once a month the second I will go there my son's back and I'll go there and have lunch and that is it But I don't you know interact with people I hang out with some of the people I went to high school with we have Lunches at a local bowling alley Dunedin lanes Two or three times a year.
It's about time to do another one and I see people there and you know, that's I see I do that I'm involved with things like that. I am the last person alive in my immediate family There were five of us when it all started out. There was my mom in my dad who got married in the 40s. My sister was born right after they were well not right after but soon after they were married and Then my brother came in 1948 and then I showed up in 1951 and we had five people in our family My dad died at a very young age at 48.
My mom lived to 80 my brother my sister died in 1999 and My brother died two years ago in February. So I am the last one standing I've got nephews and I've got some cousins in Michigan But that is that is it. I am the last standing crows in my immediate family So, you know, my brother's got three sons and I talked to two of them one of them has moved up someplace in North Carolina I would talk to him if he was here but I visit and talk with my two nephews on occasion and my sister-in-law and You know, but yeah, it's basically me right here I'm ready to have someone in my life I think that wants to go do fun things and make out, you know, go to the golf debate drive it It doesn't exist anymore and hasn't for years and sit in the backseat and make out and watch Barbara you know That that's what I would like to do That's what I would like to do and but I I don't know what I'm going to do to do that Everybody says go on dating apps Dating apps are you kidding? I've never done that.
I don't have one on my phone. Are you gonna download a tinder? I don't I'm not downloading tinder on my iPhone, you know, I'm just not gonna do that And then they say Facebook dating go on to Facebook day. I'm not gonna do that I if I'm gonna meet somebody I'm gonna meet them in the wild I'm gonna I'm gonna meet them in the wild and we're gonna go on from there That's that's how this whole thing's gonna work Anyway, would you like to be a guest on my show?
