Relationships - Singleness
from Where Every Student Belongs · host Where Every Student Belongs
This week, we’ll talk about singleness as a God-given gift rather than a waiting room for marriage. Students will consider how the freedom, time, and opportunities they have right now can be used for undivided devotion to the Lord through His Word and His work. Whatever their relationship status, students are challenged to faithfully pursue Jesus and live for His purposes in the season He has given them. Check out these discussion questions below for further conversation: Why does our culture treat romantic relationships and marriage as if they are essential ingredients for a fulfilling life? Do you agree or disagree, and why? Does singleness feel like a season you are simply trying to get through on the way to something better? Like maybe a waiting room until God thinks you can handle a relationship/marriage? Read 1 Corinthians 7:7-9, 32-35. Paul sees his singleness differently from how most people today view singleness. How did Paul view it? How do most Students view singleness today? Where do you need help in seeing your singleness as Paul did? When you think of your singleness, do you see it as a gift? Why or why not? What makes singleness a gift? What areas of your singlehood are more self-centered than devoted to God? How should our singleness be purposeful for God? How can we encourage one another to desire God more than anything else, including a relationship or marriage?
