Religion Fucks Everything Up, Especially Politics

That was my thought, this Sunday afternoon. While I was walking Mooch, I read a disturbing article about an Amish woman who tossed her 4 year old son off of a pier. Because she felt God was testing her faith and loyalty.The boy drowned. And I’m sure she feels she did the right thing, in her test of faith.This made me think about how fucked up religion is in the hands of the wrong people. So many put their complete faith in a 2000 year old book, completely disregarding logic, education, and science. If you lack common sense, religion may be hazardous to your health.Or those around you. You may even vote for a child rapist, believing him to be God’s chosen one.In today’s podcast, I talk about how religion is the cause of so much of the world’s problems and suffering. It’s not normal to embrace willfull ignorance, crime, and genocide because you feel that God’s will dictates that.
