Remain in Christ: Part 2 – The Vine

The grapevine is the source of life and fruitfulness. Jesus says that He is the Vine and that every true Christian is a branch connected to Jesus. Jesus tells us that we branches must produce fruit or we will be cut off. The only way that we can be fruit-producing branches is by remaining in Christ. Abiding in Christ is another way of saying the same thing. To remain in Christ means we are careful about being nourished by Christ. How easy it is to go to church your whole life, seeming to be connected to the Vine, while all the while, we are utterly disconnected to Christ. The lack of fruit in our lives is the giveaway. Jesus promises to remain in us if we remain in Him. As long as we are connected to Jesus we will be produce much fruit. Jesus says, “I have told you these things so that you will be filled with my joy. Yes, your joy will overflow!” Are you joyful?
