Remastered: Faitfulness
from Capital City Christian Church | Podcast · host Ben Webb, Associate Minister
"But I think there's one fruit of the spirit where our standard matches God's. God expects that we will be 100% faithful. If you knew someone who was 90% faithful, you would think that isn't good enough. No wife would be appreciative of a 90% faithful husband; she expects that her husband would be faithful 100% of the time. No employer would appreciate a 90% faithful employee; they expect that you would be faithful 100% of the time. You wouldn't be satisfied with an employee who shows up nine out of 10 times – that isn't good enough. Faithfulness is that one fruit of the spirit where I believe we can clearly see and appreciate God's standard. This one we seem to get. Most of the fruit of the spirit have this sliding-scale-percentage-grade kind of scenario. We think that 90% is a pretty good grade. But it's not the same with faithfulness. It feels more like that pass/fail situation. Either you are faithful, or you aren't."
