The apostle Paul says, “The Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.” (Galatians 5.22-23) … Here’s what he’s talking about. When we become Jesus followers, the Spirit of God- the Holy Spirit- makes a home inside us. He’s always on the outside, working on us, but it’s kind of like we invited him in, and he goes to work on us from the inside. And what he tries to do, in every single one of us Jesus followers, is to morph us back into what we were meant to be … what we were created to be by God. You see, you were created “in the image of God,” and life works best when we look at life and when we do life God’s way. These “fruit of the Spirit” are simply the character of God … he’s trying to make us like him … the way we were meant to be.
