*Remastered* The Donner Party

from Almost Canon Hosted by Nick

This week we go back in time, in more way than one! Seeing how the majority of us are suffering through the coldest days of winter, we figured listening to one of American history's worst winter time disasters would help us all recognize that we actually have it pretty good, even if the mercury is hovering around 32 degrees. We have re-edited and remaster one of Nick's favorite episodes from the early days of Almost Canon. It tells the story of the Donner Party from the point they became trapped in snow. We start with a quick history of the American West as well as a quick recap leading up to the point they became trapped! Don’t forget to rate and review the show! It has ebbed and fluctuated in such a predictably adaptive manner throughout it's relatively short life in the religious realm. This Church has a very sordid past, which it does a very good job of teaching for itself, whether the history is slanted or not, is yours to decide. Join me on a journey through the history of the LDS Church through the eyes of the people that were actually there. We will learn about the founding members, where the practices came from, where the Book of Mormon (Mormon Bible) came from, and most importantly, we will examine Joseph Smith in every aspect possibly available to us today.
