After 14 weeks in 1 Peter, if you’re like me, you’ve been deeply challenged about you responsibilities as a Royal priest. Always proclaiming, living w/integrity, & industry… always passionate, ready, & gentle, always seeking peace? Do you feel some frustration over inconsistencies for these daily spiritual responsibilities, how hard it really is? Like me do you struggle with other passions constantly competing, interfering with your priesthood? Do you see patterns in your daily habits that undeniably reveal you’re kind of lazy when it comes to priesthood? That it really doesn’t take too much to come up with excuses. Late night, bad weather, “too stressed”, etc.? How can we more consistently set these other passions that dominate our natural hearts & minds aside? For me I’ve had to realize zealousness comes much easier for my earthly passions than my Kingdom passions. On Friday I realized the word “passion” showed up 39 times in this sermon. It’s tied to zealousness in chapter 3. How can we make sure our passions are Kingdom first, so we can have daily victory in this struggle?
