How many of you saw the movie, The Secret? How many of you read the book? I saw the movie. I read the book.
As a matter of fact, it's a matter of fact. I should play the opening music first. Hello, everyone. Welcome to The Daily Grateful.
I am Michael Croes. And I remember how many years ago it has been now. The Secret came out. Remember that movie?
You remember that? Hey, Rhonda Byrne. Movie came out. It was like the talk of the town.
It was the DVD to own. Remember when you used to have DVDs? Gosh, I remember that. Anyway, anywho, as they say, that movie came out.
I went to discussion groups. They had all kinds of people around here meeting, talking about it, saying how wonderful it is. And I'm sitting there saying, I remember seeing, oh, by the way, there were two versions of The Secret. There was an original version that you didn't get or not very many people got.
You know why you didn't get that? Because there was a couple on there that they edited out before they released the version that everybody got. But the first version of The Secret had this couple. And I'm forgetting their names.
I'm going to have to remember their names. Give me a second here. I was like, now I remember it was Esther Hicks and her husband, Jerry X. Do you remember that?
They were originally featured in the early footages of that movie in 2006. And Esther was known for channeling the teachings of Abraham. With her husband, Jerry, and they explained parts of the law of attraction. And they were in the original version of The Secret, but you know what?
Rhonda Byrne said, all right, these people are kind of weird because they got this woman, Esther. And she is channeling somebody named Abraham. And the whole channeling thing just seemed weird. And they wanted to sell a poop ton of these DVDs.
And they said early test audiences were not buying it because they didn't like the Esther and Jerry Hicks part. By the way, I think Jerry Hicks is now broke. I think he's gone. But anyway, edited them out.
And then the new one, you know, then it came out. And The Secret was real big. All you had to do was sit there and think about success. Think about success.
Think about what you want. I want a new car. It just shows up. I want, you know, and they had all these examples of this.
All of the, you know, I want a new house. I want, you know, a million dollars in the back. I want, I want, I want, I want, I want. And they had all of this in there.
And strangely enough, everybody bought that secret. Now, when The Secret came out, I'm going to, I'm going to fester something here. Am I fester something here? I'm going to fester something here.
All right. When The Secret came out, the marriage to the former and the very last, Mrs. Gross was kind of like wrapping up. And I hated that.
I hated the fact that that was ending. And I said, all right, I'm going to use the secret thing and fix this all. It didn't, didn't do squat. That's just a little personal thing.
But then I, you know, the more I watch the movie and I watch the movie seven or eight, nine times, at least watch the original version because I got my hands on the original version. By the way, when the publisher found out that I had an original version at the time I was doing radio and I let it be known in the radio that I had the original version, the publisher contacted me and said, you'll give that back to us. We will give you all kinds of, you know, we'll give you a brand spanking new version, you know, that everybody else has. And, you know, and it was, and I don't know if it was the publisher, but they're, they're publicists, but they were not happy that I was talking about that original version with Jerry Nestor.
But bought, as they say, I, I sat there and I read a lot of stuff by a guy by the name of Dan Kennedy. And Dan Kennedy is a real action-orientated direct marketer kind of guy. He helps people with businesses. He's really good.
I'm a big Dan Kennedy fan. I'm an old subscriber to his newsletter, not anymore. He's owned by some multi-gazillionaires, clickfunnels guy. And I think Dan is like, you know, he should have retired.
But anyway, still his information is still good. And if you want to read his old books, they're fabulous. Getting back on track here, Dan Kennedy was asked about the secret. And he said, nothing happens.
You know, you can manifest all you want. You can use the law of attraction. And by the way, the secret was based on a book by a guy by the name of Wallace Waddles. And I forget the name of his book.
Maybe it was the law of attraction. But the whole secret, they just took that and kind of rewrote it and stuck it out there. But Dan Kennedy said, nothing happens in business. Nothing happens in life.
Nothing happens anywhere unless you get off your ass and do something. And that was the damn truth. That was the damn truth. But, you know, a lot of people are in like, I got this book right here.
It's on the studio. It was given to me by the author. I met the author of this book. It's called manifest anything you can imagine.
How you use the law of attraction to achieve the health, wealth, and happiness of your dreams. And the guy's name is P.J. Poppy. None of the zeal.
And it says, he's a mindset coach. Mindset coach. I won't be one of those. I'll be a mindset coach.
Or a life coach. Do I want to be a mindset coach? Or do I want to be a life coach? Or do I want to coach women's volleyball?
I don't know. But anyway, but it says MBA. And then it says MSTX. I have no idea what that means.
No idea. But, you know, he's got this book. He's promoting it heavily. He was just in Orlando.
And I met him in Orlando a year ago. That's when he gave me this book. But he was at a convention that I spoke at last year. And I got the book then from him.
He was there. And then he was a speaker there this year. I didn't go. But anyway, I got this book.
And you know what? Your daily affirmation affirmation second half. And it has quotes. And it says, I'm so happy and grateful now that I am so happy and grateful now that there is a universal, original, intelligent, formless, thinking sub sub.
Geez. I'd rather read the natural gardening book this underneath it. But anyway, there's a bazillion books out there now. There's a bazillion courses out there now, all to teach you the law of attraction.
You know? So, and yes, manifesting is a good thing to do. But manifesting without action. No, no, no, no, no.
I somewhere around here. I got to find it. This Dan Kennedy guy that I talked about, he self published a book. Now, none of his books are self published, except this one that he has.
And nobody has this book. I have this book. Some people have this book. You can't find this book anywhere.
But it is called action Jackson after the movie. And the whole book, it's a short paperback book, 90 pages. It says, again, in a nice way, want all you want to want. But nothing happens until you put the action into it.
Nothing happens until you put the action into it. How did I get in the radio? You have to, you know how you, you can't get a job in radio. You have to be asked.
You can go, you know, knock on the door and say, I want to be in radio. No, it ain't going to work. The only way to do it or to do it successfully is you have to be asked. And the smart thing, though, is to put yourself, you know, when I heard this, I heard this, and I had a friend who was working in radio.
He said, the only way you can do this is to be asked. I said, oh, he says, but here's the trick. I said, what's the trick? He said, you got to put yourself in the position of being asked.
In other words, you need to, you know, do this. So I had a friend who had a radio show on weekends and he wanted to take some time off. And he knew that I was a radio guy. I like radio.
This was like a million years ago. He said, you want to fill in for me? On Saturday's radio show? I said, oh, yeah.
Okay. I was so excited. And I went in there and I said, all right. And he thought I was going to fail.
He actually thought I was going to fall flat on my face. He and his family were up at Crystal River or someplace. They could hear the show and he listened to the show. And I went in there.
I said, I had to first learn how to use the board. And I went in there was a talk show host during the week. There was a guy that was the program director. I had to go meet the program director.
The program director was a real radio guy, you know, Mr. radio guy. Art Denine was his name. And wherever you are in the country, you've probably heard Art Denine because this guy's worked at about 10 million radio stations.
You know, he just worked the story. That's what radio people did. They worked the circuit. They'd get a job here.
Ratings would go down a little bit. They'd get their butts fired and out the door. They go. And I was never, you know, okay.
I met Art Denine. Art Denine takes me into this guy, this talk show host, who I was a giant fan of. I could not believe how much of a fan I was of this talk show host. And he takes me in while the guy's doing his show.
I've since learned don't ever bring anyone into the studio while you are doing a show. He drags my ass in there while David Fowler is doing his show. And David Fowler looks at him like, you know, hello, I want to kill you right now slowly to where it's very painful. I mean, it was the hate that was coming out of his neck.
You know, he was so pissed off and he goes to commercial and David Fowler looks at Art Denine and said, what in the hell do you want? He goes, I want you to this guy's filling in for, you know, on Saturday, I want you to teach him how to use this board. And he goes, and why is that my job? And I'm saying, I'm very sorry, Mr.
Fowler. You know, sit your ass down, kid. And I sat my ass down right next to him. And he says to Art Denine, get the hell out of here.
Art Denine leaves immediately leaves. It's out the door, closes the door. David Fowler looks at me and I'm terrified. And he gets his big smile on his face.
And he turned into the nicest guy in the world. He said, this is really easy. You see that computer screen there? Yeah.
He goes, all right, the guy on the other side of the glass. And his name was Michael Cereal, who is on the other side of the glass. He says, he's taking the calls and he screens them to make sure you're not getting, you know, weird people. And then he's going to, on the screen, you see Evelyn is calling from Valrico.
John is calling from, oh, I know it's going to be like five lines. And they were all lit up because everybody had a very popular show. And he said, so when you go to a call, you just push the button. It says line one, you push line one and you take the call.
And when you're done with them, he said, I'm going to teach you a little trick now. When you're done with the caller, do not get into it. Well, thank you for coming. Don't do any of that shit.
You just, you know, you end the sentence and you reach over and you click the button where the guy's gone. And then you say, now Jennifer is calling from Dunedin. That's what you do. And it just moves right along.
He taught me that right. The very first thing I said, all right, he says, you know, this is the volume, you know, and you put the headphones on and you get to where you want that needle to be right in that area. It's okay, because you know everything now? I said, yes, sir.
He says, get the hell out of here. But he's smiling while he says he is smart. Just the nicest guy in the world. Just super great.
Off I left. I show up on Saturday. I sit my ass down and I do the show. Well, I'm going to tell you something.
I don't mean to be bold. I don't mean to brag, but I was so damn good. I was and I sat there and, you know, just popped up with the opening music comes up. I hated the opening music that he was using and I think he wasn't supposed to be using it because it was copyrighted as hell and he just, and I, by the way, the whole thing starts after a newscaster and there was a woman newscaster and I forget her name.
But I just decided when I was doing this that I was going to give everybody the same middle name and the middle name that I was going to give them was Alan. Okay. So I said, you know, this is Michael filling in for Stanley Alan DeFridas. You know, and then I said, on the other side of the glass is Michael Alan's cereal.
But what I did when the news was over and I forget the lady, the lady's name. Let's say it's Katie Smith. I said, and Katie, thank you Katie Alan Smith for the news. I did not know that she didn't like that, but I didn't care, man.
I'm just going to town, man. I'm taking calls. I'm just people. I'm having so much fun and people are doing this and cereal is looking at me and he goes, you know, how do you learn how to do this?
I hear the, you see, there was like a phone in the back and I was told that that was the hotline and it was behind cereal and I see the hotline going off and I see cereal answering the hotline and I knew that that had to be art, and I figured art, and he's probably really mad at me or thinks I'm too much. I don't know. I think I'm too much, but it was art, and he's saying cereal, how long has this guy been doing radio? Seriously.
I don't know the first time I've ever met him. And you know, so anyway, I just go and I finished the show by the way during the half hour at the end of the half hour news break and when we were still in commercials, the news lady came out and said, don't you ever put Alan is my middle name again or I will break you. I said, really? And she said, yeah.
So I said, okay. So she goes and she does the news. She comes out of the news and I said, you know, whatever her name was, Julie Allen Smith or whatever, but I stuck the Allen in there again and she, oh, she comes into the studio where I'm at while I'm talking and she smiled at me. She gave me this big smile and then she shot her middle finger at me.
But it was a big smile. She got it. She was cool. She was absolutely cool and just absolutely wonderful that I use the law of attraction to get that gig because I put myself in the position of being asked.
So if you want something, I think that's the point I'm making before I went off in wild tangents. If you want something and you want to attract something with yourself in a position to have it happen for you, okay, with yourself in a position for it to happen to you. And when you do that, just use all of your thoughts and all of your emotions, but be very freaking focused on putting yourself in a position or success and you know what? It's not even that hard.
Okay. It isn't going to take that much of your brain power. You know, when I got the network job, my first network job, the program director of the Sun Radio Network called the art team and asked for my contact information and I returned the call. And the next thing, you know, I'm doing a nationally syndicated radio show, you know, tiny bits of action.
I will see you tomorrow.
