Remembering Dr. Jeff Meldrum

This special rebroadcast honors the late Dr. Jeff Meldrum, whose passing marks the loss of one of the most respected voices in the field of anthropology and cryptozoology. Originally recorded after a chance meeting at a remote gas station—a moment that seemed to embody synchronicity or some greater cosmic order—this conversation remains one of Kelly's most meaningful and in-depth interviews. Dr. Meldrum, a Full Professor of Anatomy & Anthropology with a Ph.D. in Anatomical Sciences, devoted his career to the study of human bipedalism and the possibility of a mystery primate known as Bigfoot. His rigorous evaluation of footprint evidence set a high standard for scientific inquiry in a field often clouded with speculation. As Skeptic Brian Dunning once remarked, "The work of responsible scientists like Dr. Meldrum is exactly what true skeptics should be asking the Bigfoot community for, not criticizing him for it." In this conversation, Dr. Meldrum shares thoughtful insights into why physical remains have proven so elusive, the limitations of DNA evidence to date, a detailed analysis of the famous Patterson-Gimlin film, and what paths future research might take to finally address this enduring mystery. His clarity, objectivity, and commitment to science made him one of The Captain's greatest academic heroes—and his voice will be deeply missed.
