Remembering Hieromartyr Irenaeus, Bishop of Lyons

Today we remember Hieromartyr Irenaeus, Bishop of Lyons, a faithful shepherd and defender of the Christian faith in the second century. Born in Smyrna, he was a disciple of Saint Polycarp and carried the teachings of the Apostles to Gaul, where he became bishop and a strong voice against heresy. Saint Irenaeus is known for his work against the Gnostic heresies and for upholding the truth of the Incarnation and the divine inspiration of both the Old and New Testaments. His life and writings remain a testimony to the unbroken chain of faith from the Apostles to the Church today.Support the show
