Remembering Loved Ones Lost to Addiction | Pierre News
from Pierre News Today | 2 Min News | The Daily News Now!
A powerful new initiative, the INTO LIGHT Project, is calling South Dakotans to submit portraits and stories of loved ones lost to addiction—free of charge—so their humanity shines through, not just their tragedy. With only 30 spots available, submissions open August 1, 2025, and close November 1 or when full. Founded by Angela Kennecke, it aims to dismantle shame and spark real conversations about addiction. Families will receive framed portraits as a gift, and all stories will be archived nationally at UCSF. The exhibit opens February 1, 2027, at the South Dakota Art Museum—a moving tribute to those lost and a call for deeper understanding.
