Remembering Three Lives Lost to Hate | Jacksonville News

Three years after a white supremacist’s racist attack at a Dollar General in Grand Park claimed the lives of Angela Carr, Jerrald Gallion, and A.J. Laguerre Jr., their families and the community gather to honor them — not just with grief, but with a fierce call for change. Remembering their vibrant lives — A.J., a gaming enthusiast; Angela, a devoted mother and grandmother — the city confronts the enduring pain and demands action: a Jacksonville where skin color doesn’t determine safety. Mayor Donna Deegan acknowledges progress but insists the work is unfinished, urging residents to see each other’s humanity and build equity. As candles glow and stories are shared, the legacy of these three becomes a rallying cry for justice, resilience, and a future rooted in love over hate.
