Every relationship begins with relating.  We meet a new love prospect and look to find out more about every aspect of him or her.  We watch and listen closely and subconsciously pick up unspoken cues.  Then something happens along the way.  We lose that curiosity and open perspective.  We no longer see or relate to our special love interest in a meaningful way.  Relating becomes bartering and trade - a form of mutual exploitation.
