By nearly all measures, remote learning fell short for a majority of students in the spring of 2020. With most schools opting to forego in-person teaching this fall, educators desperately need an effective virtual learning model to guide their teaching efforts. How can teachers engage students in their coursework, even as they tune in from kitchen tables and living rooms? Is there a way to bring world-class teaching to every student’s home this fall? In this episode, Naomi and Ian are joined again by Chris Cerf, co-founder of the National Summer School Initiative (NSSI), to discuss why NSSI’s innovative approach to online education could be a powerful antidote to educational setback. NSSI piloted their learning model in 17 states this summer, and they are partnering with schools across the nation to help students progress, not regress, in their learning this fall.
