Rents continue to rise in the North West
Rents have risen across the North West in the second quarter of the year. The rents have increased from between 5.4% on Donegal to 10.7 % in Leitrim. The increase in Sligo was recorded at 8.3% The average monthly rent nationwide is now over 2 thousand euro, nearly triple what it was in 2011, according to the latest figures from Daft.ie. Dublin rents are up 6.5 percent, averaging over two and a half thousand euro, while Galway jumped to 8.5 and Cork soared by nearly 12 percent. In Sligo, market rents were on average 8.3% higher in the second quarter of 2025 than a year previously. The average listed rent is now €1440, up 87% from the level prevailing when the covid19 pandemic occurred. In Leitrim, market rents were on average 10.7% higher in the second quarter of 2025 than a year previously. The average listed rent is now €1261, which represents a 110% increase from the time of covid19. In Donegal, market rents increased on average 5.4% in the second quarter of 2025 than a year previously. The average listed rent is now €1249, up 92% from the level prevailing when the covid19 pandemic occurred. Economist and author of the Daft.ie report, Ronan Lyons, says rents are continuing to rise since the end of the Covid-19 restrictions.
