State Rep. Linda Dean Campbell of Methuen says veterans are among those being especially hard hit by the coronavirus.Campbell, who serves as chair of the state legislature’s Joint Committee on Veterans and Federal Affairs, spoke recently on WHAV’s “Win for Breakfast” program, and said she was surprised at what has come to light.“Getting food to veterans has been a big issue, and there have been a lot of groups that have stepped up to the plate. Mass. Military Friends Foundation, Mass. Military Support Foundation have worked with the Patriots and others. Mass distribution of food. I never realized how much food is being given out to the veteran community. We’re finding that the demand is really huge. The same this is happening over at the Methuen Loop as well. We’ve had a lot of veterans in need of food. That’s been a big effort on the part of veterans,” she said.Campbell also spoke about the food distribution for Veterans that occurs every other week at Northern Essex Community College. It is being organized by the Veterans Northeast Outreach Center. Veterans may register at VNEOC.org. The next Haverhill distribution date is Wednesday May 6.Support the show
