BILLS AND TOPICS TO DISCUSS:HB0702 CONTROLLED SUBSTANCES - the "One Pill Will Kill Act," which adds fentanyl, carfentanil, remifentanil, alfentanil, and thiafentanil to what constitutes a qualifying controlled substance for purposes of certain felony offenses.HB0704 TENNESSEE BUREAU OF INVESTIGATION- expands the duties of the medicaid fraud control unit of the Tennessee bureau of investigation to include investigation of complaints of abuse, neglect and financial exploitation of medicaid recipients in any setting and allows the director of the Tennessee bureau of investigation to create new divisions within the bureau as necessary.HB0705 EXPUNCTION - requires a court ordering the expunction of a person's public records of a criminal offense as a result of successful completion of a diversion program to include the person's state control number in the expunction order submitted to the Tennessee bureau of investigation.HB0030 LOCAL GOVERNMENT, GENERAL - requires a person to obtain a valid entertainer permit from the adult-oriented establishment board, in those jurisdictions with a board, prior to performing adult cabaret entertainment for compensation; prohibits public, private, and commercial establishments from allowing persons under the age of 18 to attend a performance featuring adult cabaret entertainment.HB0031 SENTENCING- adds the offense of rape to the offenses for which a defendant is not eligible for probation under the Tennessee Criminal Sentencing Reform Act of 1989.HB1020 ELECTION LAWS - requires the judges at a polling place to hand count and record the number of ballots counted and compare such number with the tally sheets after the polling place is closed.HB0726 GENERAL ASSEMBLY - enacts the "Restoring State Sovereignty Through Nullification Act," which establishes processes by which the general assembly may nullify an unconstitutional federal statute, regulation, agency order, or executive order.#tennesseeinformer#tninformer#tennessee
