Repent, God Came And Took The Judgment (Matthew 3)

We jump ahead about 30 years as we move from chapter 2 to chapter 3. Here we meet the adult Jesus, but before that we meet John the Baptist who is paving the way for the coming of the Christ. John tells the people to "Repent, because God is coming in judgement." But then Jesus goes into the waters of baptism, and later he will go under the earth in death. While we are still called to repent, now it is because God came and took the judgment for us.
