It’s a very simple but profound observation. Simply stated, that which we live among is invisible to us. This is especially true when it comes to self-defeating thinking and assumptions. We rarely think about our thinking but maybe we should. Could it be that the real reason we fail at new year’s resolutions is that we fail to address the bad thinking that led to the behavior in the first place? Instead, it’s about trying to make somebody else feel responsible. That’s what blame does – it points a finger at those you believe are responsible for your misery. We accuse others in order to defend ourselves. Let’s face it, it’s easier to think that the other person is totally wrong or bad than it is to take an honest look inward. Eventually, blaming blinds you and even filters how you see reality. There really is a better way.
