[REPLAY] #47 Kathrine Switzer [EN] - The first woman to officially run the Boston Marathon
from ATHLÈTES MONDIAUX - Le podcast 100% athlé · host Mathilde Meurisse
THIS IS A REPLAY OF MY CONVERSATION WITH KATHRINE SWITZER FROM DECEMBER OF 2022.-----My guest this week is a pioneer! Kathrine Switzer was the first woman to officially run the Boston marathon, in 1967. Kathrine made history that day and many of us have seen the picture of her being attacked by Jock Semple, the race co-director, who didn’t want women in his race. Kathrine could have walked away but she didn’t. She finished her marathon and went on to fight for other women’s rights, helping to finally include the women's marathon in the Olympic Games, which happened in 1984. Kathrine also launched the 261 Fearless non profit, dedicated to the inclusion of women in the world of running and sports. You’re listening to the original interview in English. The interview is also available dubbed in French for those of you who understand French better than English.Enjoy!Follow Kathrine Switzer:FacebookTwitterInstagramWebsite261 Fearless📚 Get Kathrine Switzer's book:Marathon Woman: Running the Race to Revolutionize Women's Sports📚 Get Deena Kastor's book:Let Your Mind Run: A Memoir of Thinking My Way to VictoryFollow ATHLÈTES MONDIAUX: Twitter Instagram Facebook YouTube TikTokThreadsWebsite 👉 Support the podcast 👈I'll be back soon with another episode!
