[Replay] In the Movie #DjangoUnchained, What Is It That’s Not Really Unchained?

Every single word that came out of Calvin Candie's mouth was nothing but horseshit, but he was right about one thing: I am that one nigger in ten thousand. Every single word that came out of Calvin Candie’s mouth was nothing but horseshit, but he was right about one thing: I am that one nigger in ten thousand. Welcome to my film discussion podcast—this is Mako, your host. This episode, I’m joined by Oma from #PokeNuma, and our topic is #DjangoUnchained. With an all-star cast and Quentin Tarantino at the helm, this is an explosive movie that’s so much more than just gunfights. Because with Tarantino, it’s never just about the action. His overflowing love for cinema, his playful homages to classic westerns, and—most of all—the strong messages woven into every turn of the story. Beneath the entertaining surface, this is a film that makes you think: What is true strength? What does it mean to be human? What is dignity? What does it really mean to live? You’ll find yourself pondering these questions from every angle. Even if you’re not familiar with Spaghetti Westerns, you’ll be pulled in by the iconic camerawork, title cards, and pacing that keeps you on the edge of your seat. It’s a heavyweight story with no dull moments—a personal Hall of Fame film for me. And let’s be real: even though times have changed, prejudice and discrimination still linger. This movie asks us, in the here and now, to reflect on how we see others—and ourselves. Your hosts this time are Oma and yours truly, Dmako. “The D is silent.” #Djangounchain #Django #QuentinTarantino #ChristophWaitz #LeonardoDiCaprio #DjangoUnchained #Slavery #AmericanSouth #BountyHunter #Discrimination #Violence #Bias ーーーーー I’m Mako (@_macobana), your podcaster.
