Report details reasons for train security collapse in SA

from AM Live on SAfm · host SABC News and Current Affairs

SAfm — Leaked reports are detailing why train security has collapsed in South Africa. A commuter activist group #UniteBehind is in possesion of a report of an investigation by Werksmans Attorneys on mismanagement at the Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa (PRASA) for the 2014/15 financial year, which has raised more red flags about security at PRASA. The reports reveal that hundreds of millions of rands have been spent by PRASA on dodgy security contracts. These reports, come on the backdrop of the Railway Safety Regulator (RSR) report that security-related incidents on South Africa's rail network are at a seven-year high. Sakina Kamwendo spoke to #UniteBehind member and Secretariat Zelda Holtznam.
