Repose of Saint Jacob Netsvetov, Enlightener of the Peoples of Alaska

Today we remember Saint Jacob Netsvetov, a devoted priest and missionary who brought the light of Christ to the peoples of Alaska. Born in 1802 on Atka Island to a Russian father and Aleut mother, he dedicated his life to serving remote communities across vast and challenging territories. Saint Jacob faced many hardships, including personal losses and difficult journeys, yet he remained steadfast in his faith. He built churches and schools, translated scriptures, and baptized many, becoming a true shepherd to the native peoples of Alaska.Support the show
