Repression - Loved

from Latest mixes · host Marc Prochnow

This is a very special mix. Not long ago I met someone suffering from a serious form of depression. Getting to know that person touched me deep and unexpected. I wanted to help him break the circle of negativity. Since music essentially is all about emotions triggered while listening to it, I wrote a short emotional story in my mind. You can’t confront a depressive person with happiness. However, you can set yourself into the same mood as this person to show that you understand him - by heart - and take it from there. So I decided to set a very melancholic tone in the beginning. With a touch of tender plaintiveness progressing into grievous joy. This part - only played in minor key - is called „depressed“. It encompasses the emotional numbness one feels in such state, topped up with some - quite confusing - interplays of live giving power. After about two hours the key changes completely to major. Mood softly changes to joyful grace with childish confidence, embracing the inner fire, finally pursuing its way back to the innocence of happiness. That feeling that you have when you know: you are „loved“. This mix turned out highly emotional. It touched me - while thinking about it and in the end producing it - in a very deep way. Whenever you feel lonely, depressed, missunderstood or surrounded by negative feelings, use this mix to help you find back on the right track! Special thanks to my friend and very talented hipstograph Sebastian „Oskar“ Kroll for having me use his astonishing photos as cover for the mix.
