Republicans Block the Laws that Would Stop Insane Men From Pulling the Trigger

Here’s the 50% off coupon for you. Go ahead, make my day! While the left waits patiently for the facts to emerge, the right goes on a crusade. Without any evidence, conservatives scream, “The liberals are to blame!”As the left sends their condolences, the right screams their rage.As the left denounces violence, the right claims guns aren’t to blame.Instantly after every tragedy, the right springs into action to divert the narrative. They are frantic to get out ahead of the facts, because they know the truth is impossible to forgive. They don’t want the American public making decisions based on level-headed reason. Above all they don’t want the people united in a call for life-saving action. So nothing is done. And our kids die. This is the way this always goes. They say, “It’s inappropriate to talk about that now!” If it’s a mass shooting at a school, the right says, “Well, he was insane!” They never, ever, ever are willing to admit that guns might be to blame.Anytime there’s a political element, the right blames the left. For some reason, in those instances, they never mention mental health. Any chance they have to smear an opponent is something they can’t resist.“Don’t politicize this,” is their rallying call, even as they do it.For decades now, liberals have been calling for peace. That’s their fundamental ideology. Yet the right always tries to accuse the left of violence, despite not having any evidence. Before the report of gunfire has faded, the right is already on the news. They grab control of the narrative, to stop the public from perceiving the truth. The fact is that even as they call for grief they are already pivoting to a baseless attack. They expect us to meekly fade away, and we can no longer afford to fall into their trap.We have to be as bold with the truth as their are with their fabrications. The simple fact is that the reckless ideology of the right is responsible for these terrorist attacks on our nation.Instantly they say the left has to “tone down their rhetoric.”But it’s the politicians on the right who use machine guns in their campaigns and slogans. They are the ones making violent statements. The left calls for peace. The right has militarized the country. They’ve deprived people of due process. They refuse to process rape kits. When Sandy Hook happened they called it a false flag. They call the Epstein files a “hoax.” Everything they do is a lie. Everything is an attempt to make the public blind to the truth. They’re highly skilled in how they manipulate the news.We can’t continue to fall for this. Those of us on the left, need to insist that the media stops recklessly reporting on these stories in a way that besmirches the innocent. We shouldn’t have to suffer any recriminations for being on the left, because every single shooting represents everything the left is fundamentally against! It’s long past time for our country to correct its fixation on punishment, cruelty, death, and violence. We can’t be passive while the politicians on the right opportunistically politicize it every time an innocent person dies. In the case of Melissa Hortman, who was killed by a man radicalized by the right, Republicans spent the immediate aftermath of the shooting blaming our side. They don’t have time to offer condolences or denouncements because they’re rushing to protect their own hides. When the facts finally did emerge, the story was allowed to die. Once they’ve established the story they want, they deny all facts that contradict their lie.We can’t sit here and pretend that those manipulative behaviors don’t exist. We have to develop a more astute awareness of how the modern media functions. It’s disrespectful to the dead to allow Republican politicians to avoid accountability every chance they get. The simple fact is that this country has many problems. We have problems with mental health. We have problems with criminals in positions of power. We have problems with lies.We have problems with false narratives. If you want an example of political violence, look no further than January 6th. The current regime posted a meme that suggested Chicago was being targeted for strikes. The right loves to rattle their sabers and brag about all the people they’re going to “smite.” These are threats. It’s the only way they speak. It’s not funny. It’s repugnant.People’s lives are at stake. When our figures of authority normalize violence, and refuse to act responsibly, American citizens lose their lives. We can’t afford to allow the Republicans to wrestle away control of these narratives. It’s to the detriment of all. We shouldn’t have to live like this.End all shootings now.End the violence. You all make this newsletter happen! Thanks for your sponsorship!
