Republicans Train Their Base to Only See a White Supremacy Narrative
from Walter Rhein Podcast · host Walter Rhein
Republicans are indoctrinated to disregard facts. It’s the exact opposite of the scientific method. Instead of formulating their thoughts based on their observations, they force themselves to find evidence that supports what they already think. They do this even when no such evidence exists. This is why we can’t afford to look at things “from their point of view.” That way lies madness.White supremacists don’t perceive reality. They only see the white supremacy narrative. Understanding this helps expose the absurdity in the Democratic response to the ongoing Republican white supremacy movement. The general strategy of Democrats is to allow Republicans to fail and trust that the public will hold them accountable. Democrats say things like, “Let’s do nothing!” or “Let’s give them enough rope to hang themselves.”Meanwhile, Republicans industriously launch terrible policies that leave millions of people broken and abused. But there is no nobility or reason in the Democratic response. What is there to admire in a self-serving organization that waits for the general public to endure agony in pursuit of their own political gain?“See I told you so!” is not a campaign slogan that rouses fervent support. But there’s another aspect of this situation that the Democrats refuse to recognize. While they’re sitting around chortling and waiting for the Republicans to fail, the Republicans are spending all their time industriously brainwashing the general public. This effort is designed to counter the fundamental Democratic strategy. When the time for the next election comes, the public never holds the Republicans responsible because they’ve been indoctrinated not to believe the evidence of their own eyes.Today, all the Republicans and approximately half of the Democrats have been groomed to believe a hostile white supremacy narrative. This abuse conditioning has been going on all the way back to the inception of this country. The general public is brainwashed to offer unquestioned loyalty to a central authority figure. They give this up at the expense of their own autonomy. They’re told they should be “grateful.” They’re told that they’re “free.” They’re deprived of any opportunity to question whether or not either of those two thing is true.Meanwhile, the Democrats sit around waiting for the general population to spontaneously develop critical thinking skills without ever doing any work to provide them with sufficient resources. We should never overlook the fact that the Democrats are a right-leaning political party. They’re indifferent to the rise of fascism. The only thing that annoys them is a threat to the status quo that they’ve learned to leverage into personal power. They don’t care anything about the needs of the people, otherwise they’d manifest some sort of resistance to authoritarianism.Even with all their Ivy League degrees, Democrats are clearly indifferent about how successfully the Republicans have indoctrinated the country to accept extreme, right-wing authoritarianism. Democrats shrug their shoulders and say, “Well that’s what the people picked,” even though they never fight to protect the books and true history that Republicans insist must be censored from our schools.Democrats rely on critical thinking in order to win elections. But they don’t make any effort to ensure that the general public has the opportunity to develop critical thinking skills.Republicans, meanwhile, never take their foot off the gas. They have an endless amount of money to spend that ensures the public will be conditioned to accept authority. They attack us in schools, on the radio, on television, and in the news. It’s twenty-four hours a day, seven days week, fifty-two weeks a year. No battle is too small. They’ll show up as a screaming mob to ensure the preservation of confederate statues, and they’ll do the same to stop a motion picture studio from allowing a Black woman to play the little mermaid. They are incessant.Meanwhile, the Democrats pretend they don’t even see what’s happening.Today, we look out at a mechanism of exploitation that’s maintained by many established beliefs. Whenever you offer any criticism of the right, there’s an overwhelming response that’s based on a distorted perception of reality. The right claims they’re “entitled” to have their point of view, even though they won’t suffer any other entitlement such as Social Security payments, healthcare, or even the right to basic human dignity. This society spends all its time worrying about offending oppressors even as it disregards the plight of the oppressed. We are never going to make any progress until we recognize the Republicans stand in opposition to any form of human progress. They deliberately suppress and avoid acknowledging facts. They observe situations that prove they are in the wrong, and twist themselves into knots insisting every cruel consequence of their ideology is somehow a justification of their beliefs. They are intellectually dishonest. It’s actually harmful to us to try and understand their beliefs. To understand them requires us to submit to brainwashing ourselves. Their viewpoint only makes sense when you train yourself to disregard the facts that disprove everything they claim to be true. There’s no benefit in undertaking this exercise. There’s not a single thing that should be extracted or preserved from the ideology of white supremacy. We must collectively arrive at the understanding that white supremacy must be obliterated. The people who have been indoctrinated to believe it must be deprogrammed. We cannot allow ourselves to become like them. We cannot permit them to infect our children with their form of toxic intolerance.Going forward, we must combat the lies of white supremacy that routinely go uncontested in our country. These lies are pumped into the general public and distort our general perception of humanity. The white supremacy mind virus makes us indifferent to human suffering. The prevalence of this infection is why the United States of America is the only country that permits the mass slaughter of children. This nation has a disease, and the name of that disease is white supremacy. The answer is to help the general public develop their own autonomy. Citizens must be encouraged to trust their own eyes and ears over the orders of a cruel authoritarian figure. We must help the general public recognize that facts are absolute and ideologies must change.Today, there is far too much pressure to accept the reverse. This is a nation of people who are the target of psychological torture. This is thanks both to the indifference of the Democrats and the extreme right-wing hate indoctrination of the white supremacy infected Republicans. We can no longer afford to simply sit and do nothing and hope for the best when confronted with this cruel and constant pressure. The failure of Democrats to identify and oppose this movement is both reckless and incompetent. We have to demand, not ask, for an alternative. We have to build that alternative on our own.Democrats are fools to rely on a strategy of observation when the Republicans are trained not to observe. They look at a horse and see an octopus, then physically restrain us from feeding it hay. When the horse dies, they claim we murdered it, and they use the momentum of that injustice to win political office. This keeps happening and it’s no less an act of insanity that Democrats refuse to learn. The raging of the right is terrifying to behold and it’s easy to fall into the trap of believing the safest path is to simply let them have their way. We hope they will eventually recognize their mistake. But that is a false assumption because they’re committed to an ideology that is designed to ensure they will never see. This is why white supremacy is a virus. It kills the host in order to keep itself alive. It’s time we fundamentally accepted that Republicans are incapable of perceiving the flaws in their behavior. They’re incapable of recognizing that they are the cause of all their own pain. The entirety of their viewpoint is to disregard reality so they never have to experience the discomfort of accountability. So, when we concede in advance and we allow them to censor books, or defund schools, or cut scientific funding, or deny history, we do so at our own peril. The only consequence of any of these actions is evil. Passively sitting back in the hope that evil people will somehow learn from their mistakes only enables further abuse. The abuse must be stopped! In recognizing this, we are equipped to rouse ourselves and give ourselves permission to fight back. This happens not on the national scale, but individually in those small moments of our everyday lives. We can fight back in line at the grocery store, we can fight back during a conversation with a neighbor, we can fight back by praising a brave teacher who discards a sanitized narrative in favor of the unvarnished, often ugly truth. Our nation is built on a lie. It’s a beautiful story that camouflages an ugly reality. It’s only by embracing the ugly story that we can achieve a beautiful reality. We have to teach ourselves how to respond when we interact with people who have been infected with the white supremacy mind virus. We have to acknowledge that these people have been deprived of their ability to perceive reality. Our job isn’t to understand their viewpoint, but to reclaim them.White supremacy operates on fear. Naturally people are afraid when they’ve been browbeaten into believing they can’t trust their own senses. The white supremacy mind virus leaves people wandering around in darkness, jumping at shadows, and lashing out at anyone who comes close. They are a danger to themselves and others.Today, the whole world is bearing witness to terrible crimes against humanity. White supremacists have been so indoctrinated by terror that they’re rounding up, abusing, and even murdering innocent people. They’re committing these atrocities out of loyalty to their white supremacy indoctrination. The human mind has terrible powers of delusion, but the longer a civilization walks a path of inhumanity, the harder it becomes to silence the cries of the oppressed. The more this white supremacy movement transgresses against our basic humanity, the more people will be shaken into appropriate opposition.Going forward, we must find our resolve to always push back against the forces of indoctrination designed to normalize an authoritarian narrative. We must expose as frauds the people in positions of power and wealth who abuse their privilege to suppress rather than empower humanity. We have to equip our children to dismiss the messages of contradictory authority so that they might inherit their rightful power. It’s not enough to stand and watch and do nothing. We have to act. We have to reprogram our whole society. We have to dismiss all the tainted lessons of the past. We cannot wait. We have to begin today. You all make this newsletter happen!
