Requiem of Zagreus

Requiem of Zagreus is a sonic meditation on the violent intersection of desire and disintegration. Drawing from the Orphic myth of the first Dionysus, the child-god lured by the Titans with vanity’s trinkets and subsequently torn asunder, this composition explores the cyclical nature of the "luxury object" as both a site of affection and a vessel for destruction. In this work, the requiem is not a mourning of the dead, but a celebration of the fragmented self. It serves as a critical inquiry into how we are consumed by the very things we seek to possess. The soundscape mirrors this anatomical deconstruction, utilizing "shattered" rhythmic structures and metallic, high-fidelity textures that evoke the cold shimmer of a mirror or a golden apple. These elements are set against a deep, ritualistic pulse, representing the inevitable reassembly of identity through the lens of modern excess.
