Chris proposes that individuals who pass as fluent choose to pass more as an active, 'survival' tactic in today's able-body dominated society rather than a passive repression of one's authentic self that has historically been proposed. Later, Chris shares clinical implications of his research and how we, as clinicians, can better serve individuals who pass as fluent the better we understand the true interaction of stuttering and society.
