Researchers using AI to detect diabetes through voice

from Techstination · host Fred Fishkin

Techstination, your destination for gadgets and gear. I’m Fred Fishkin What if there was an app that could detect type 2 diabetes, by analyzing your voice. That is what a research team at the Luxembourg Institute of Health is working on….using AI to detect diabetes and other illnesses as well. Dr. Guy Fagherazzi is Director of the Department of Precision Health… “When you have a disease, when you have a symptom, this will have an impact on how your voice is produced. And sometimes it’s very subtle, small changes in your voice. But now, with all the technologies we have, the development of AI, we can extract thousands and thousands of variables, information, that we can use to feed AI models.” Dr. Fagherazzi believes within five years the technology could be available for wide use. They are seeking people to volunteer with voice samples. The site for more is ColiveVoice.com. You can find us at Techstination.com. I’m Fred Fishkin.
