In the dead of night as people sleep, that is when the spirits creep. As the bell tolls three dark things take power, we like to call it the supernatural hour. And now, our host. Hey, welcome to the supernatural hour.
This is your host Raven. This is Chad. This is Drake. And it is Castle.
Happy New Year. Alright, so we're actually gonna talk about residual hauntings because we've delved into those just a little bit, and Castle said, hey, this would be great to talk more about, so here we are. So, this is the kind of activity that doesn't respond. It doesn't interact and it just kind of happens.
So, we will get into what makes something residual, why investigators may not always agree on what causes it, where time might factor into it, and as usual, we don't and may not always land on the same place or agree what causes it and everything. And that's normal. That's okay. But this is one of those topics where experience matters just as much as theory.
So, tonight we'll share what we've seen, what we think, and maybe what we still can't quite wrap our heads around. So, before that, let's discuss our upcoming investigations. First, we have Salter. This will be January 23rd.
And I know if you live in Utah, lots and lots of people have investigated here. It's not a new venue per se, but it's new as far as anything that we have investigated. We've been there both as a team and with other investigating teams. So, it's not an unknown venue, but as far as advanced paranormal services.
This is the first time we've made a public investigation available through advanced paranormal services. And for those who have never been to Salter, and even for those who have, it's gotten interesting history. It's been rebuilt three times, but it's out kind of on the shores. And I'm using my air quotation because it's like, he's receded tremendously.
But it's built on the shore of the Great Salt Lake. But there's been a lot of history of bodies found in the area, homicides. There's a history of nefarious doings inside the building. It's actually a very active location with a lot of history that kind of ties into something investigation.
So, it's a great venue. For those who've never been, it's a big open air venue, but then there's like a platform up high, where you can go sit, there's like a balcony, and then there's some rooms off to some areas. But it's honestly a really, really neat venue to investigate. So, if you haven't been, you really got to take this opportunity to go.
Yeah, there really are quite a few different areas to investigate. The main assembly hall area is huge. It's massive, but there's lots of other places, green rooms. A Maryland-Matson green room that's well known there.
So, it's going to be fun. We're excited to do this and be able to offer it to our guests as a new venue for us. And then, just because we're cool like this, we actually have an investigation all set and ready to go February 14th. Yes, I know that's Valentine's Day, but what better way to spend your Valentine's Day.
You can come by yourself. You can bring a friend. You can bring a date. This isn't date exclusive by any means.
But it will be fun. We're going to have a short shooter report. Do you want to say that right? A short sugary?
I'm impressed. I believe you said it right. A short, short, short report. Basically, what are the things that you get for your little kids?
What are those? Lunchables. Lunchables. Yes.
It's basically a grown-up lunchable. It's what it is. But a really, really good grown-up lunchable. This one's going to be fantastic because it is at the Wild Whistle.
And not only are we going to have our short shooter board, but we're going to have Valentine's Streets and some little Valentine's surprises. This is going to be, if you've been to the Wild Whistle before, or Family Tree, if you haven't listened for a while, it used to be known as the Family Tree, but it's now the Wild Whistle Day. We're going to have just some, since it's a holiday, some special little goodies that you won't get at maybe some of your normal. Valentine's venues and or?
Well, and or our units. I mean, there's some things that we're doing that for this that are special that we don't do for, we don't do Shikuta rewards for all our events. I said it better. I know.
I'm like the audience said it. Yeah, and we have been to Wild Whistle several times, and we always have a great time there. This is going to be just a smidge and different. And as you know, the Wild Whistle is not a big venue.
We aren't able to sell as many tickets as we would like. So if you want to go to this, make sure you're hoping those tickets get quick because they always sell out fast. Yeah, I think we sold the well, this allowed the last two times we've done it per three or three easy. I don't think we've ever got pulled it out.
Yeah, also great venue. So if you haven't been, get your tickets and get them fast because they go fast. Yeah, we've only got, we've only got 26 available. And that places a wild ride as far as investigating go.
So if you're, what, if that new date you want to cut it up to you, that's the place to take them because they're scared. They're going to get to go. Should we get a little teaser? We've even got things.
Oh, yes. So we're going to give you again for our March event. We're not going to give too much information on that, but it's a new event. It will be millished to end of March.
Probably we haven't confirmed the date. The owners are on board with it. They're excited about it. So we're not going to get too far out in front of our seas, but we've got a new investigation plan for March and we'll be fun.
Yeah. And just the nature of the business, they aren't able to confirm a date until the end of January. So it's a for sure. They want us, we can get in.
It's just a matter of getting a little closer to March before we can confirm a date. That's a definite maybe. Yes. Definitely.
It's a definite definite. Just the date is up in the air. All right. And if it's not that date, it'll be another time sometime during the year.
That's one that we can work in as needed, possibly based upon availability. But there's me. I would dare say it's a 99% probability. Anyway, all right.
But just know we've got our next three lined up. So we're looking forward to starting the year off with a bang. All right, Castle, tell us about the photo arts. Speaking of off to a bang and speaking of Valentine's Day, I have got some openings at castlefoughtart.com.
If you want to reach out to me, I've got openings. I just finished Raven's son's engagement photos. I don't know if Raven's seen those yet or not. It's the one that they posted on Facebook.
But my schedule is wide open. This is my slow time of year. So if you want to get scheduled, you want to be put on the schedule. Now's the time to do it.
So reach out to me. I do weddings. I do engagement. I do pretty much everything except for a bad war because if I did bar to bar, I'd be divorced.
So if you need photos, let me know. Castlefoughtart.com. All right. And just a new year.

Okay. So let us just jump right in to our main topic, which again is residual hunts. And basically, let's just start out with residual hauntings and some time based theories. And so first of all, what is a residual hunt?
Resigial hauntings are usually the repeating event. The same thing over and over again, where an intelligent haunt, it could be different every time. And if you've ever come to one of our dead talks, you'll hear me say a residual haunt is one where you'll hear every full moon, you'll see a soldier walking up and down the ramparts of the castle or every third weekend, you'll see a woman walking along the beach searching for her husband who drowned at sea. This is the same thing that happens every single time.
It never changes. You usually can't get any interaction. Very well, as I say, very little bit, zero response to questions, no awareness of people. They're just doing their thing.
It's one of these things that I really want to see one of these days, but I don't know that you can necessarily investigate the residual haunting per se. They're not intelligent. I'm sure the spirit's intelligent, but there's no intelligence as far as interacting with you. It's not poltergeist activity.
And more often than not, it's going to be something to do with some pretty extreme emotions. It's going to be tied to a location and not necessarily a person. Now, it doesn't mean that the emotions don't involve a person. I gave you an example of a woman that's waiting for a man to come back from the sea, but it's not attached to a person.
I'm not going to have a residual haunt attached to me. It's going to be attached to a location. So as far as this is concerned, are we all on the same page? Does anybody have, and we don't need to be.
Does anyone have anything they want to add? Does anyone have any different ideas? I got one. One of my fun, and I brought it up before about a residual haunt.
I'm a movie guy and I like old movies and things like that. And there was a movie called High Spirits, and it was done quite a while ago, but it has Leonice and Beverly, the Angelo are part of the ensemble cast, Steve Gutenberg, and there's a whole bunch of people. It was like the 90s or early 2000s. But anyway, there's a really good residual haunting scene in that where he's running after her, who is his wife, with a knife trying to kill her.
And this goes over and over and over and it's repeated. And to me, that's a really, really good visual example of what a residual haunting is, where they're not aware of anything else that's going on at the time. This thing just happens and it repeats over every night and over and over. And I think that's a really fun one, but that's a really fun movie to watch anyway.
It's called High Spirits. So I would recommend that. I'm giving it two thumbs up. So for me, I struggle with residual hauntings.
Do I think they exist? I do. I do think they exist. And I hope our listeners will forgive me.
I have to kind of step off the religious ledge on this one and just hit my toe into religion. I think most people who follow the Judeo-Christian religious path would agree that if you study the scriptures, they talk about time only existing for us here in mortality. As much mortality, there is no time. And I think all of us who've investigated have experienced that with active investigations, speaking with spirits, the various means.
We've determined that that's true. There is no time. I don't know how that works. I don't know how you have time and not have time.
The two seem totally completely incompatible to me. And I don't understand them. My brain kind of gets tied into knots. But my personal thought on this whole residual haunting thing is I feel like because the universe has no time, so to speak, and we do, and part of the expression that I know is cheesy, but there's a glitch in the matrix where time and not time are overlapping.
And so it's not even necessarily a spirit so much as an event that has just got stuck in the fabric of whatever. And it just triggers and replays over and over and over, which is what I mean by glitch in the matrix. So I don't even know that it's actually a spirit so much as it's just an event that's just stuck in the fabric of like an infinite loop in our reality, if that makes sense. Did I get way too deep and make your brain hurt?
No. I actually have some theories for you, but we will talk about what I think on that in just a minute. Okay. Well, so some common traits in this game's report when they talk about like residual hauntings is it's usually like the same sound, the same type of the same time of day, a spirit will be seen along the same path.
They talk about like the white lady of such and cemetery, she always shows up at a certain time, a certain time at night, people always hear knocking or the hair scream on a certain night of a month of a year. Some people see headless horsemen cruising down Main Street. There's always some kind of predictable sameness to these residual hauntings. A lot of times if investigators do catch these things, you'll find that they don't interact.
I think all of us who investigate it and those are our listeners who investigate it with us, we put out our equipment and we'll get bumps on the K2 meter, the dead bell will ring. Whatever tools of our trade that we have out there, the spirit box, we get answers, we get relevant input from the spirits on our standard haunting. On residual haunt, there's no actual interaction between us and the spirit. So if you see a spirit on say residual haunting, it was walking across the room and you stand up for it and be like, yo, what's up?
It's basically interesting, nor you're going to walk through, you're not even there. It's not going to interact with equipment. And so that's kind of one of those common things that you see with these residual hauntings. The other thing that with these residual hauntings is they happen whether people are there or not.
If people are lucky enough to catch them, they do see these residual hauntings, sometimes cameras capture these residual hauntings, but they're happening whether or not someone's there or not. People hear the scream or whatever. There doesn't have to be people press up for these to happen. The other thing too with these residual hauntings is you'll find that a lot of times they're attached to events of strong emotion.
For instance, a good example would be like if someone throws themselves off the clock tower or commit suicide at midnight every first of the month, people may see a spirit throw itself off the same clock tower like clockwork and no pun intended, or if there was a murder at a certain time, someone might hear ghostly gunshots or a scream at 2 AM every night. It seems like it's common it's titrutomatic events. Nobody really sees a residual haunting of someone harvesting wheat in the wheat field or sweeping the floor. It's usually associated with some kind of loss or tragic accident, something along those lines.
So what are your thoughts on these residual hauntings? What do you guys think? For me, I haven't had any actual experiences myself with a residual haunting. I've seen some videos of some, especially with some of the Civil War, Giddy'sburg things where there's been reports and some videos of some very interesting, what seem to be residual haunts and things where the same kind of thing happens.
Mine's been more of second hand and taking another people's experience on that. I myself haven't experienced a residual haunt, but I have seen video evidence of them and things like that. So I have never seen something that I would consider residual. They do say that at Vincent Griss Mill, you can see the white lady or the lady in white fall out of the top window.
They say that people see that all the time. So that could be considered a residual haunt. I have seen the white lady, but I haven't seen her. But I haven't seen her.
But it wasn't residual necessary. No, I saw her walking across the open area by picnic tables. I was with Beaker and we did see a white orb about the size of a semi-tire throw itself out of the window at Vincent Griss Mill. It was awesome.
How about you, Drake, any experiences with anything residual or? I think they're going to be a lot more rare. I wouldn't see it was residual, but because we did a couple bonus episodes ago, we did cover the white lady of helper. I happened to be down in that area one year.
I'm a totally unrelated, wasn't you, an investigating thing and stumbled upon her? But I wouldn't say it was residual. That's the interesting thing about residual hauntings though, I think Elvis will agree that they have in common, is usually they're pretty widely known. You know what I mean by that?
As you will hear about the white lady of helper for instance, and it's like, oh, on a foggy night you'll see her standing on the side of the road. And everybody in that region has heard of it and knows about it and you'll find it doesn't people who've seen it. Or I know the war inside one is a white lady of some cemetery that you periodically see. But they're usually pretty well known and usually the event is recurring in that many people have witnessed the exact same thing.
A while ago we did one where we were talking about residual hauntings and there was a ghost train that was quite interesting that the ghost train that came through. Yeah, it was ghost train. Yeah. And again, things that are reoccurring in the same kind of way, and we say like clockwork, it's not like every Wednesday it happens.
On some Wednesdays, at some time, with the right situation, it happens, but it happens frequently enough that there is a pattern. Otherwise you just set up your camera and record it every week. And that is the thing with these is that there is a pattern. Again, it's not like every single Wednesday you can just set it up and everybody come on Wednesday, let's see the ghost.
But it is frequent enough and the same enough that multiple people over the course of years have seen the exact same thing roughly at the same time. But it's not necessarily every night. It's foggy rainy nights, for instance, or whatever. Oh, this is actually one theory that I believe in, which is the environmental recording theory.
And that is that the area or the environment stores that energy or like stones, bricks, iron, even running water can just store energy, all this stuff. We'll play it back like a broken record or a tape that only plays back under the right conditions like a full moon or a foggy night or a cloudy night. But it's always that has to be within that right condition. But the big one that a lot of people think of is mainly with stone, especially sandstone because it's supposed to ease just the swords, what they say, and iron because it comes directly from the earth.
But on that, do we think the environment actually records anything or is it just the way to explain what we don't understand? Oh, I think the environment can definitely store things. You hear all the time about the things that you mentioned. And I really believe in the water theory, any place that I've investigated where there's water or if it's been a rainy night, the activity just seems to shoot through the roof.
Interesting, because if you think about it, and I know a lot of times, paranormal investigations and crystals, those two things kind of go hand in hand. But if you think about it, we've used crystals to store things for a long time. We use silicone to create salt state drives and computer chips to store data. We use quartz watches, things that nature crystals have been used to store things.
So it's not really out of sorts that there's things in the environment that may be able to hang on to those energies. And at the same time, I think the human mind, I think, is pretty powerful. And again, I have to dip my toe into religion here a little bit, but I firmly believe that our spirits are actually far more powerful than we give them credit for. I think we're capable of doing far more than we even believe we can.
And so I don't think it's out of sorts if there's some kind of traumatic experience. Chad mentioned Gettysburg, what more traumatic experience it'd be involved in the three or four day battle where you're fighting for your life every day. That's pretty dang traumatic. And it doesn't seem out of sorts to me that someone who's under a tremendous amount of stress and anguish and whatnot can use the power of their mind to kind of reach out and inadvertently maybe record these happenings at what's going on with them.
I don't think it's intentional, but I do think it's possible. So a lot with the environmental recording theory, and I would call it a substep of that. One of the things they call is the stone tape theory. And basically it's the same thing.
It's that certain materials, wood, stone, water can absorb these energies, these emotional or, you know, traumatic things and then replay them at another time based upon certain conditions. And so that might be another one that you hear when you hear about the environmental recording theory and the stone tape theory. To me it's kind of the same thing, maybe just a little different name for it. I think we talked about that.
Another one of the residential theories is called the time slip theory. And moments in time may occasionally overlap or fold. Allowing a person to briefly witness events from another era. This isn't really a ghost, but it's a glimpse into the past.
I win. Castle and I are both kind of mature with this in talking time. So Castle, this is actually going to go back to what you said originally. And it kind of with the time slip.
This is how I like to explain residuals. So we have time here on Earth. And right now I'm recording. And five minutes ago I was recording, but where did that five minutes go?
Where did it go? And so if you think about, we don't know exactly how time works. And some places there is no time. I actually read about an island by the North Pole somewhere.
They don't have time. They don't have clocks. I want to go there because time can be just kind of annoying sometimes. But where these residuals happen, like we've said, it's not every Wednesday, every single Wednesday or whatever, or else we could maybe get recordings of them.
But they happen regularly enough that people notice that. And then our time minds we say, oh, this is what could happen again. So as the Earth is spinning, but it's monthly rotation, and then spinning this yearly rotation on top of that, is there somehow do we pass through time again? Do we pass through past time as we're rotating?
And sometimes that's able to peek through. And when you get someplace where there's heavy, heavy emotion, that time stands out stronger than just someone going to the grocery store. So interestingly enough, I've actually seen a model of how the Earth travels through the universe, and it actually travels in more of a helix because we're never in the same place twice in existence ever. Even though the Earth goes around the sun, the sun's constantly moving through the universe, we're moving around the sun.
And so it's like a helix. So we never actually pass through the same place ever twice ever, even here on Earth, we're not in the same place where I'm sitting now as physically at five minutes ago. If that makes sense, I just blew people's minds. I know.
But that being said, I really truly believe if you had to say, Castle, what is your definitive answer to residual hauntings? And I genuinely honestly believe that they are time slips. I think it's a lot of very heavy, traumatic emotion combined with a time that's actually probably very fluid that we don't understand. And I think those moments are so powerful that they create a wrinkle or some other thinness in the space time continuum while that's ended really fancy.
Sounds Star Trekky. Where those moments are so powerful that they just keep punching through to our current awareness, although very lightly so. The people who are involved in it aren't aware of us. We're barely aware of them.
It's there, it's gone and we move on. Not to go down rabbit hole, but I think it kind of ties in a little bit to Deja vu. I think everyone who's listening to our voices right now is at some point experienced something that we're like, whoa, wait a minute, I've already experienced this. And I think that kind of ties in the whole thing that time is very fluid and we don't truly understand how time works.
And so I think those all tie together, I really do think that time is a lot more complex in a timeless universe than we think it is and that there is some overlaps. That ties in really closely to another one that I'm looking at and that's called the temporal overlap or the time overlap theory and different points in time may coexist simultaneously and under some rare conditions, the boundary between these events are thin. People in one time period may perceive echoes of another. And I think that's kind of what you were describing there a lot, Castle.
And that kind of fits again into the residual hauntings because it's there. It's not necessarily the recorded echo like the environmental stone one, but it's a residual because it's there. You can still tap into that. You've run out there the residual time slip and I'm a big proponent of the residual time slip.
Let me ask the three of y'all. Did you guys see any holes in this three? What are your thoughts? I've got some holes that I could poke in the recorded on stone theory, but do you guys have anything about this one that you guys think you're going to take a swing at?
Oh, there's just a lot of holes. Castle, I think you and I agree on the time slip. We describe it differently, but I think it's basically the same idea. One thing I don't know if this is necessarily holes.
One thing though is people say they see what they see and we have investigated enough that we know that people are seeing what they're seeing, especially when you get this different people telling the same story over and over again. So regardless, if it's the stone tape, if it's a time slip, if it's overlap, something's happening. And that's one reason why I like to do ghost investigations is to try to answer those questions. Yeah, there's another one that I thought was very interesting, the chromesthetic echo.
The human consciousness may occasionally tune in to past emotional energy in the same way the radio tunes into a frequency on a radio station. The haunting is an exo perceived through an altered mental state or environmental situation that triggers that off. This isn't necessarily residual, but it's a residual thing that you may be able to pick up from an altered state within your own mind, not necessarily because of an environmental thing or those other things. You're in the right situation to be able to receive that residual energy.
And if I could chime in on that, I do think there's some validity to that. I have been in rooms with people who are like, oh, do you see that spirit linear where they're looking at the clothing rack? And they're just like, yeah, I see it. And I'm looking at where they're for all I'm worth and I can't see crap.
And so those two or three people who are seeing this all at the same time can see it. They're in the right frame of mind. I cannot see it. I'm not in the right frame of mind.
At the same time, I've seen it running on the right frequency. Exactly. And all seriously, yes. Yeah.
And I have seen things. I've definitely seen things before. I've seen full-spared apparitions on numerous occasions. And I see something all the time because I think your brain has to be in the right frequency.
And I don't know how you get there consistently, short of being like a medium or a psychic. But I think periodically our brain does let us speak behind that veil or just it tunes into that frequency for a few seconds. And we're like, oh, wow, look at that. And that's gone.
And so I could buy into that theory. So does this theory fit anything like what any of us have experienced through? Because all of us have different experience multiple years. Some of us have more experience than others.
But that's why all of our experience has this fit anything of what we've experienced. For me personally, no, because I think these are really, really rare. And other than the white lady falling out the window at Benson-Gris Mill, I don't think I've run into any. So I can't say that these theories fit what I've experienced, but I think these time-slip type of theories definitely fit what I believe to be residual as compared to intelligent hops.
And with that, if I can just chime in, shut up, castle, I'll tell you what to chime in. I think residual hops are actually, and this is going to sound very counterintuitive. They're very rare, but they're also very common. And what I mean by that is they're pretty frequent, but they're frequent in the locations where they're at.
Meaning if you go to where the white lady of helper is and you go there frequently, you're likely to see the white lady of helper. But if you're just going around investigating random homes and buildings, the chances of running across residual are probably pretty slim. I think most people who see these are people who frequent places where there are residual hauntings and you go to the same place a hundred times, you might see something one time out of a hundred. And so I think they're common, but rare, if that makes sense in the way of explain it.
Yes. So we've hit on the physics science-y part of it. Let's jump into some emotional energy versus time replay with residuals. One thing that we've said time and time again, we're going to jump into it just a little deeper here is emotion.
Like we said, you're not going to get mostly someone going to the grocery store. You might. There might be a little slip there, but in all of the ones I've heard about, whether it's Gettysburg, whether it's what a castle in Scotland, they're always fueled with just these high, high, high emotional things. Emotionally charged events.
Now, there's other people that say that emotion doesn't matter is just a coincidence in time, which I can wrap my head around. But I think even with intelligent haunts, I think that emotions are so powerful and they're so strong, I think that there's going to be a lot of energy. And if you're going to have a slip in time or a little glitch in time, I think for something to make that glitch, to open that little portal, for lack of a better word, it's got to be some pretty heavy emotional things. I'm not saying that a heavily emotional thing can be the only way, but I think if I think more often than not, it's going to have to have a lot of emotion in it.
That being said, time replay and emotional energy are definitely things that are used to explain the traumatic or repetitive events. So based on that, if emotion is a key thing, why do you think some calm and I'm using my air quotes, boring places and by boring, maybe not boring, but just every day you're mundane, might still have residual reports? I think a lot of it has to do with the fact that even though we're using our aquitations for calm, a lot of stuff happens at places that we just aren't aware of. And what I mean by that is for those who don't know me, I've worked in law enforcement for 27 years and I worked for one small city and the residents are frequently telling me, well, why do we need as many policemen as we have?
Nothing ever happens in the city. And when I tell them that we handled 27,000 cases over the previous year, their eyebrows climbing to their hairline like, well, we had how many what? And so I think a lot more stuff happens in a lot more locations than most of us are aware of. I could drive through the city I used to work for before I retired and I can say, some of them shut themselves and head in that house and I had a body in that house and somebody had a crappy out of that house and you would never know just driving through the city.
And so even though there's mundane locations and I've used my air quotations mundane, we don't necessarily happen there five years ago or last year or 10 years ago or 50 years ago or 100 years ago or even 300 years ago. We don't know. And I think a lot of it to be more shocked than not to find out what kind of things did happen in locations that we think are pretty mundane. A lot more things happen around us in the world than we're aware of.
And if you think about it, maybe the emotion of what happened in the past, for whatever reason doesn't trigger residual activity, but maybe the emotion opened a portal in that area or a rift in that area and other things are able to be seen. Yeah, I would agree with that. And again, I fall into the time warp theory where I think there's a wrinkling time and maybe those strong emotions, that strong psychic energy created that wrinkling time. It caused that warp that wormhole or whatever you want to call it, that break in the space time continuum.
Nerdy. So I don't know. It's possible that through a human mind with great trauma, we can rip that space time barrier that imprint these things in the fabric of time, if you will. Definitely interesting.
And the other grass types in there. So why do residual hauntings not respond to cleansing for our provocation? So cleansing's 99.9% of the times won't stop residual activity because it's residual. There's nothing really to cleanse.
It's there. And provoking or calling it out won't work because it's not intelligent. It could be, but it's not. And then if it's time-based or environmental, there's again, nothing there to interact with.
Which is why, again, 99% of the time, cleansing's don't do anything. But with that being said, even though I have a priori, the answer to this, has anyone even seen a residual stop after a cleanse? I don't know that I've ever had one that we had to cleanse because again, they're kind of rare but kind of common. And so we don't run across a lot of them.
But I think kind of along with the whole, they can't be cleansed or they can't be provoked, et cetera. A good analogy that kind of pops into my mind is it's like if you're having a hard time sleeping because you hear people talking in the other room. You can get out of bed and go in the other room and say, Hey Chad, you and Raven need to quit talking because I'm trying to sleep and Chad, Raven go, Oh, we're sorry and be quiet or they can leave the room or whatnot. But if someone leaves the radio on another room and I can't physically manipulate the radio and I hear voices and I can go into the room and be like, Hey, radio be quiet.
But the radio is an inanimate object. It doesn't respond to what I say. It's not going to be quiet. And residual hauntings behave the same way or not cognizant of us tying them to knock it off and go away.
And so again, I'm a huge proponent of the wrinkle in time theory and you can't cleanse a wrinkle in time. It just is what it is. And that's where I was just going to go. If residual hauntings are indeed traveling through time or a riff in time, however you want to explain it, the only way you could cleanse it would be to close that riff.
And I'm sorry, I can barely wrap my head around the fact that it's a rift in time. You start talking about time stuff and time travel. And my daughter asked me the other day a time travel question and, or I know it was my son. We were watching Harry Potter three where her mind has got the time turner where she can go back in time.
And so he said to me, does that make her like a whole year older? If you go back in time to go to other classes, are you adding to your life? Are you the same age? I was like mind blown.
But it's not a cleansing like you're telling a spirit to get out. It's more like you're watching with your old like castle said listening to that radio that you can't manipulate. It's interesting. I've talked about it in past podcast, podcast, podcast years ago for those who listen to the podcast when I was on it like five years ago.
I ran across a documentary on YouTube. It's a Nova documentary called The Illusion of Time. And the documentary is fascinating for those who want to watch an hour long. Your brain will hurt when you're done with it.
But the documentary basically says that time is an illusion. In fact, they've shown that space and time are actually interconnected. And they did some cool experiments actually took an atomic clock that was set exactly to the same time. And they put one on an airplane and then left one at the airport and had the airplane fly against the rotation of the earth and then when and circled the earth and come back and land and when the plane landed, the clocks were different from each other.
And so when I say different, I mean, we're talking milliseconds, but we're talking also in the grand scheme of the universe. We're talking pretty short distance around the earth. But the theory is that if someone who's sitting still and someone who's in a car moving or actually moving at different rates of time versus through time, thank you. And the theory was that like, let's say there's another planet on the other side of the galaxy that's inhabited by people is on this earth, I walk towards that planet.
Their time fast forwards like five, 10, 100 years versus if I turn on walk the other direction, their time goes backwards the other way. The documentary is fascinating if you watch it. And again, it's called the illusion of time. It's an over documentary.
But it basically says that time is an illusion and space and time are interconnected. My brain doesn't. Science. I just felt like we're back in the high school science.
Right. Starting to do it alone my page. They're a podcast. They're just sleeping car, car, car, beer, not the road into the media.
They're just there. Check it out. This is where we get into the kind of the sciencey aspects. We beat this to that just a little bit.
Let's go around the group and I'm going to hear where you guys fall as far as where these are at. I've been pretty vocal that I honestly am a big fan of the Wrinkle in Time theory. Like I said, I watch that documentary and I gloom in mind and change the way I think about time. And so to me, what makes the most sense, especially the fact that you can't provoke, you can't interact with is that there's some kind of overlap in the space and continuum science.
And so my theory is it's a wrinkle in time. I don't think it's an actual ghost. I think it's us seeing something that happened. Sometimes I think it's probably the wrinkle was brought up by some kind of intense psychic energy that being a traumatic event, a great sorrow, a great distress, something along those lines.
That's my theory. So let's go around and I'm just curious to hear what everybody else has to say. Let's start with you, Riven. So I agree with you.
And I don't know if it's a wrinkle in time or rift in time where the Earth passes back through time because it's being drug along in the Earth's shadow with the helix. But since you can't interact with it, since it's not an intelligent haunt and not that the person wasn't intelligent when they were alive, but intelligent meaning that they won't interact with you. I think it's actually looking at that period of time again. I think we're just seeing that period of time over and over for whatever reason.
You can look at a photo, but you can't interact with the person in the photo. Exactly. That's my theory. I do think there's some deep emotional trauma of some type that needs to make this imprint.
And whether that does that in kind of these time overlaps or if that does it in the environment around them, the water zones, the things, I'm not sure. But I do think that there is residual hauntings that can happen. And I also tie into that chronostegee echo where certain people can get in a certain state. And places where we can tune in and be on the right frequencies to be able to access those events, those emotional recordings that are out there, some kind.
I believe it's actually it's multiple things. But once it's time loop, time overlap, stored energy, like stored emotional energy. And it can also just be from energy that just was there and it's energy that's just been left there. Absolutely.
So one thing I think we need to remember is that theories evolve with experience. And I know that the theories I had of just intelligent haunts have definitely evolved with experience anything that you do, whether it's cooking, dancing, whatever sports you are, you're going to get better, you're going to learn tricks, you're going to learn, have new information come in. And who knows if we were to do this podcast in another five years, we might have new information, new theories, new experiences. It's interesting you say that because I look at when I first started investigating, gosh, it's almost been 10 years ago now, over 10 years.
And I remember when I came into investigating, I had all kinds of theories and ideas and I knew the way things were. I was pretty smart. And it didn't take me very long after I started investigating twice how not very smart it was. And to have to really change my opinion and ideas on a lot of things.
And that's part of investigating because honestly, that's why we investigate. We don't know if we knew all the answers. What's the point of investigating? And so I can go on an investigation Saturday and may have to change the theory I have on something altogether.
It is what it is. We've talked about elementals. If you were to ask me about elementals seven years ago, I would have laughed at you and said you're stupid. Do I understand fully what they are?
No. Do I believe they exist? At this point, yes. Same thing with portals.
I thought people talked about portals were batshit bonkers crazy. But I've experienced enough and seen enough that I had to reevaluate and say, okay, portals are real. Do I fully understand what they are or why they are? No.
But do they exist? Absolutely. There's no question in my mind at this point. I want to interject on two things that you said.
The first time I closed a portal, I think we were talking to Serenity Moore. And she was telling me that this portal was in the middle of a staircase. And she told me to throw a sage in the portal. And I remember standing at the top of the stairs, throwing sage down the stairs.
I remember this. I know. I'm thinking this is the most stupid, insane, weird thing I've ever done. And now I don't think it's weird.
I've done a few things where the course I've investigated right from. I feel like it's don't blind idiot. But it works. And then the other thing you said, we've been investigating 10 years.
This actually, 2026, this will be our 15th year of when Wisps started. I'm bad at math. So I take it in half that we've been doing this as an official organized group. Okay.
So here's a little deep thought for you. So you can have residuals and they don't know that we're there. If they do, they don't interact with us. I think that they would if they could.
But if they go, let's know you're there. Is it a ghost? I'm glad you said that because I was going to interject with that earlier. I totally forgot.
I don't think they're ghosts. I generally do not think they're ghosts. I think they're recordings. I think it's a peak into a wrinkling time.
I think we're seeing something that we perceive as a ghost, but it's not a ghost. Okay, but it's more fun to go ahead. They're definitely paranormal phenomena, but not necessarily ghosts or entities. I would even maybe argue it's more of a physics phenomena, but I think we perceive it as a paranormal or a ghost entity.
But I honestly don't think residuals are ghosts. Okay. So for all of you that like paranormal and ghosts remain mystical, magical and whimsical, I'm still calling ghosts. I'm going to answer that question with a question.
Well, it makes a ghost a ghost. To me, it's a spirit that is left of body. And that's what I would say to I think a ghost is a spirit who has inhabited a body that no longer inhabits a body, which is why I say if these are just like a wrinkling time or, as Chad said, we're tuning into the chronofrequency modulator or whatever it was, however you explained that, we're seeing through a different point in time. And so I would argue again, not ghost, still fun, still interesting.
I wouldn't be sad if I experienced a really cool residential haunting. I wouldn't be mad about it, but I still have a ghost. That's where I go paranormal, meaning out of the normal. And we can't really explain it.
And it doesn't mean that it's magical or mystical. It just means it's paranormal. It's beyond the normal experience that we're in. We're talking about ghosts and we say ghosts.
If we're defining ghosts as someone that has a had a body and has passed, I can go with that. That is a ghost. We also have entities that haven't had bodies such as or type three or demons, those types of things. Yes.
Are they a ghost? I don't think they're a ghost in the definition of a ghost to me as someone that came to Earth has body has passed and they may still be here with us that spirit. To me, let's say a ghost. That's an entity.
I would call that an entity. And I would call it a spirit. They are spirit. That's not a ghost.
Right. You have to have had a body to be a ghost is the way I look at it. Right. So let's just wrap this up.
I think as we look at residual activity, a couple of things that stand out, they're going to have emotion, but it's not so much the drama that stands out. It's the repetition of what they do. It's the same sounds, the same movements, the same moments in time playing out over and over again. And I think that's why these stand out, why these are different than intelligent haunts.
They don't react to us. They don't care that we're there. I don't think it's so much that they don't care that we're there. They probably don't even know that we're there.
The longer we spend investigating, I think the more we realize there isn't one single explanation. I think there is, but right now with the science that we know now and our brains, how much they can comprehend, we don't know what that single explanation could be. We don't all explain residual hauntings the same way, but that's okay. I think all of us are pretty much on board.
You know, those that are listening, if you're like, now we think you guys are up the night. That is great. And that's one reason why we all are interested in the paranormal, why we all go investigating, why we do this because it's just one of the mysteries we're trying to solve. But before we jump into the rest of our podcast, we do want to say thanks to our friends at Radio Ronan.
We appreciate you guys more than you know, you are amazing. We love you. And with that, the Whitters Web is brought to you by the Wild Thistle Cafe. And just a reminder, we're having our Valentine's event at the Wild Thistle Cafe on Valentine's Day, February 14th, Saturday.
You're tickets for that. It's going to be a great event. And with that, direct what are we got in the Whitters Web? And tonight we're going to talk about a rampod.
And yes, there's more than one design of how they look. And with the rampods, you have ones that are cylinder, ones that are rectangular, like mines are rectangle, ravens is more of a cylinder type. But they each do the same thing. It produces a small electromagnetic field for entity, a spirit, a ghost, whatever you're trying to do in an act with, it will break that field, set it off.
And it can be used for multiple things, talk to spirits, which is 99% of the shoes for, but it can be used for other things you can find a number of uses for it. But I've always used it just for investigating. My rampod, I love it. It's turned into one of my favorite investigating tools, honestly, because you can get the spirits to interact with it fantastically.
And if you go back and look at our TikTok a couple months ago, when we went and it was in October, when we went and did the Springville Library, we had an amazing interaction there with the spirit. It actually was giving us, we told this name, I think it said it's name was Susan, but then it was giving us like Morris Code through the rampod. And one of the gals actually went back and listened to the recording and looked up Morris Code. And it was spelling out Susan.
So anyway, fun fact. Interesting. Speaking of gear, by the way. I know we have a private investigation coming up here pretty quick and I have a new piece of gear for us to try called the S or no pod.
So we will report back on that. But it should be a fun new piece of gear. Hopefully I'm hoping and I'm hopeful that it will replace, can I say, hopeful three more times that it will replace my Gals meter pro, which I miss so sorely. So we're going to give the S or no pod our trial run.
So what happened to your Gals meter pro? You had one. The ones that I gave you that you sold at some kind of paranormal event that one? How come you didn't keep it?
Because it was the teams. I thought it was yours. Okay. So if you don't want to sell it, I want it.
I would like to add for listeners that there's a piece of equipment that you would like me or us to talk about. Let us know. Should us an email? Let's talk about swag.
So it's been Christmas. It's been the holidays. I have not added our swag yet to the website. I know I'm not a Senate angry hate mail to Castle which is not work.
But if you're interested in supernatural hour swag, reach out to us and we will get you swagged. So there's that. All right. So in our drugstore since it's the new year and since I play back pipes, we are going to talk about the new year Piper of Edinburgh Castle.
This actually could be considered a residual haunting in a way. So let's just jump in. Edinburgh Castle, there's a lot of ghosts going on there. But one of the most consistent reports is one that involves a sound of bagpipes with no visible bagpiper.
So this story actually goes back centuries from a real event. There are underground tunnels beneath the castle all over the place. And a couple hundred years ago, they sent a Piper down into these tunnels. And the idea was he was going to play his bagpipes.
If you've never heard bagpipes in real life, they are really, really loud. Everybody on this podcast can attest to that because you've all heard the bagpipes in real life. So the idea was they were going to go, he was going to walk down in these tunnels and they could hear the bagpipes above and they would map these tunnels out as they listen to the bagpiper play. So he did.
He goes down, he's playing there mapping and as he moved further in, they're mapping this out. Well, they could hear the piping going down a little further because they started getting a little quieter and then it stopped. And you can say, okay, only he went so deep that you couldn't hear him anymore. Well, the kicker is the Piper was never seen again.
He never surfaced and they would go searching for him. I couldn't find him. But since then, guards, soldiers, visitors, people that just live in the area and go up there have reported hearing faint piping echoing through the castle grounds and snow and corridors, but there's no one there. They say that the sound is usually distant, hard to locate and it ends abruptly.
The sound doesn't respond to people. It doesn't change if followed and doesn't interact anyway. It's just a sound. It's not really an apparition that you're seeing.
Now, if you're familiar with bagpipes, you can hear them from it really far away. So you might say to yourself, it's Scotland. You're in downtown Edinburgh. You've got the Royal Mile right there, Princess Street right there.
You've got bagpipes busking all over the place. This is a different sound. It's like you can hear it below you. It's not like a sound that coming from over on the street or around that street.
It's like coming from your feet. And then they hear it different times of night. And when you shouldn't be hearing pipers. So what makes this report stand out is the timing.
It could be intelligent if it's the actual Piper down there or it could also be like we were talking about a residual haunt. But most of the time when they hear this, it's reported around Hogny and Hogny is Scotland's year celebration. So it's often late at night or in the early hours of January 1st when the castle's quiet. Some believe it's tied to the castle's long military history.
Others think the new year connection points to a time overlap or a transitional moment that triggers the experience. I think there's going to be a lot of emotion there because if you've got a young Piper that's sent down to play in these tunnels and he disappears. Phew, there's going to be a lot of emotion. What happened to him?
Did he fall into a crevice? Did Loch Ness Monster come up and eating? Who knows? Who knows?
So either way, whatever's causing the piping doesn't seem to care. What's going on doesn't seem to care that the years change. It doesn't wander up and let people know what happened. So there's that.
And the Juncker was sponsored by the Huey Shoeing Art and Cultural Events Center in Payson. And we will look forward to going there later this year. It's always a good hunt. I'm going to go on a tangent really quick.
But I know it gives ties to your book there, Raven. Say that again, my book. You have ties to your book there. Yes, it does.
So you can get as soon as our swag is up. Yes. And if you want my book, let me know. And I'll make sure you get one.
Because it does have that kind of vibe too. It doesn't have that kind of vibe. It doesn't have that. For the look of your book, it's called The Piper's Ghost.
Available on Amazon. Me, if you. Shoot me any now. What?
In that tangent. So before we go into our EVP segment, I haven't been at Tails been lately. I haven't been for a while, but I really, really need to go. So Chad and I will have to go one of these nights.
Chad and you should have to take me with you because I love O'Tails. They're delicious. Okay. We'll take you and you can pay.
Woo. Yeah, that's a terrible idea. Although it's good enough, I probably don't just like to go because I love O'Tails. I keep pointing for them to get into their new location.
And they're almost done with the new location. I think they just have to get their kitchen up, not up to stuff. It was completely empty. It's not like they're redoing an old kitchen.
They just, kitchen's not eating it. A short story. Seems like a kitchen would be one of the important things to have if you're running a restaurant. Yes.
And their sign is up on the new building. The O'Tails sign is up. Yes. And I've seen it lit.
And Drake has no idea where either buildings are. And the sign was lit, not Chad. All right. Let's move on to our EVP section.
Can you hear me? All right. I'm in a plane EVP for you guys. So this EVP, this is probably one of the most active residential investigations I have ever been on.
It was a house up in Morgan County. It was abandoned. Like the owners own the house. They refused to go into the house.
They actually met us there and waited outside while we investigated. There's no furniture in the house. They're trying to figure out what to do with the house. But during the investigation, we got numerous EVPs.
At one point, we heard, and by say, we, I mean the entire team plus the owner came in for a minute. When we asked a question, we heard a female spirit sobbing answering, yes, that was none of us. We had an object on top of a wood burning stove start spinning around on its own very fast. It was a crazy, crazy, awesome active investigation.
Probably one of my favorites of all time. That being said, there were several spirits in the home. There's a very sad female spirit. There's a very angry male spirit.
But when we first entered the house, this male spirit, I captured an EVP. I'm saying out with you. He did not want us there. So I'm going to go ahead and play it now.
