What began with a delayed appearance after falling ill has become one of the Madlanga Commission’s most dramatic moments. Last week, Advocate Andrea Johnson, until yesterday the head of the Investigating Directorate Against Corruption, faced hours of relentless questioning as commissioners scrutinised her decisions and challenged parts of her evidence. Then came another dramatic twist: last night she resigned with immediate effect, and earlier today President Cyril Ramaphosa accepted her resignation, and today she returned to the witness stand to continue testifying under oath. So, what do we make of these extraordinary developments?
